Privilege is burning hot right now, techno-lovers. RESISTANCE is back for season number two and the opening on Tuesday was suitably colossal. Having taken the island by storm almost instantaneously, watching the line-up announcements come through pre-season had us palpitating for the comeback. And, wasting no time whatsoever, an absolute stellar gang was put together to christen the first of nine ludicroulys techno-infested parties. None other than Sasha & John Digweed, Loco Dice, Seth Troxler and Joris Voorn among some epic friends brought the sonic boom, turning Privilege into a musical mecca all night long. If there’s one thing you mustn’t resist this season it’s definitely a lengthy night at this killer get together.

Quite frankly, there isn’t a venue much better than the world’s biggest superclub, with its industrial-style construction and warehouse vibes, to host a heavy-duty shindig. Evidently the island had been aching for this opening with the club’s outdoors in total roadblock. The walls were oscillating from outside and upon our entrance we could see why. Sasha and John Digweed were sending the already packed main room into total frenzy. Extraordinarily tall dancers loomed overhead throwing robotic, mesmerising shapes as the incredible LED sky above the dancefloor shapeshifted and throbbed with kaleidoscopic visuals.

Joris Voorn meanwhile had his audience entranced in a pulsating wormhole in the Vista club. Dishing out more up-tempo and bouncing tech-house, the secondary room served as a soft landing pad against the thumping and wild main room. The sound of stuttering vocals and a rolling bassline marked the onset of Loco Dice who brought his signature vibe through a pumping techno set. Loco Dice and Seth Troxler were the highlights of the evening for me, with their sets incredibly fresh and innovative, captivating us with the spicy beats and infectious rhythms. Charlotte De Witte in the Vista club put a shift in, too. Classic techno intertwined in a melodic journey had us suitably floating and kicking, with the views of Dalt Vila from the enveloping glass windows offering a simply unreal backdrop.

The first-rate sets delivered by each artist was the driving force, so many bangers were dropped that sadly Shazam wasn’t able to keep up. We will leave you to find out for yourself how big this night is and, after all that, the best is unbelievably still yet to come. Carl Cox’s birthday show will no doubt have the island clamouring on July 31 not to mention Adam Beyer, Pan Pot, Matador and Joseph Capriati also to look forward to, taking stage on separate nights. RESISTANCE is royally killing it, serious party-heads this is one for you.
