Pete Tong has been the voice and a driving force for the dance music scene for as long as there has been one. From the early days of the Essential Selection on Radio 1 when he used to drop all the latest cutting edge tunes to an army of followers listening intently to find out who the new producers were and the next big thing was before knocking on the door of the local record shop and demanding that white label bootleg that was played the night before only to be told it would be available in two months time! How many DJs often dreamt about rummaging through the crates of tunes in Pete Tong’s office, well now you don’t have to. November 4 sees the release of ‘The Pete Tong Collection’ featuring various artists on Sony Music, three decades of classic club cuts making up a three disc, 60 track compilation that is a must for all dance music lovers. For some, it will be hours of nostalgic fun and for others, a chance to see what all the fuss was about back in the day as the compilation charts the evolution of a scene across the last thirty years. Featuring some of the seminal acts and tracks that defined more than one clubbing generation, “The Pete Tong Collection’ is a must for fans of dance music.
