Sunday In Can Mimosa

It’s the month that everyone living in Ibiza looks forward to during the long, hot and often challenging days of the summer, October. It’s a chance to relax and reconnect, with the island and with friends and enjoy some of the fantastic concepts that Ibiza boasts. One such concept and recent addition to the gastronomic scene is Can Mimosa Ibiza in Santa Gertrudis. The charming eatery in the heart of the village has announced that every Sunday from September 29, throughout the winter, it will host Sunday’s In The Garden, from 1pm until 8pm.

Can Mimosa Ibiza has made an instant impact on Ibiza, the farm to table concept from Ibiza favourites Pedro Cervero, Tim Payne and Holly Rees Thomas offers a mouth-watering dining destination for both tourists and locals. As the summer eases into its final stages and we look forward to Autumn and Winter, Can Mimosa will become a community hub, where friends can meet and catch up and when better to do that than on Sunday, with a delicious BBQ, Sunday roast and Bloody Mary menu, as well as live entertainment from Paul Powell of Hot Ice Collective Ibiza. Vegan and veggie options are also available and there’s even a kid’s size Sunday roast.

Start your meal off with a pumpkin & parmesan soup with sautéed mushrooms, perfect for those Autumn and eventually winter days where the temperature drops. The Can Mimosa salad is another option, featuring avocado, apple, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, green beans, sweetcorn and lettuce. Traditional Iberico ham with bread and tomato for those that like to stick to the staples, there’s a Payes salad and, finally fried baby squid with nispero & chilli mayonnaise. For your main course, choose between roast sirloin, pork belly or chicken for the meat lovers and a vegetarian wellington, which offers a delicious alternative. All are served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy. There’s also a kid sized roast so the youngsters feel part of the party. No Sunday is complete without a fine dessert to end the feast and Can Mimosa boast a selection of decadent dishes for your pleasure. From the warm chocolate fondant, almond soil and lemon oil to the sticky toffee pudding with carmel sauce and vanilla ice cream, Bonoffee pie and the apple crumble with custard.

The environmentally friendly restaurant has already become a firm favourite with Santa Gertrudis residents and has a strong following across the island, with a philosophy that is best summed up by Pedro; “We are trying to source as much of the menu from as close to the restaurant as possible and grow our own ingredients where we can,” he explains. “we want to reduce our carbon footprint and make sure everything is as fresh as possible and supporting the local community and farmers. Ibiza is blessed with an abundance of amazing ingredients and we are creating the most delicious dishes possible from everything that surrounds us.” For winter that means brand new seasonal vegetables and heart-warming homemade dishes! Sunday September 29 sees the start of Sunday’s In The Garden, our advice would be to book your table in advance.
