Another summer in Ibiza and another fantastic year for Elrow and Kehakuma who returned for a final mind blowing event at Space Ibiza on Saturday, to finish of this seasons mayhem and all for the same reason, the love of music, and with a line up that included Acid Mondays, Anja Schneider, Art Department, De La Swing, Fritz Kalkbrenner live, Javi Bora, Los Suruba and Tania Vulcano & Jose De Divina back to back, to name only a few, it promised to be another memorable extravaganza…

With more of an underground techno/house style, the main focus for Kehakuma is showing off the talent of some of the best DJs in Ibiza. With minimal decoration, we were welcomed with a seedy red glow of light, with dancers in roped cages; the scene is powerful and minimal, the perfect foil for the flambouyant techno of Elrow, complete with massive production and more than a few dramatic performances. It is a match made in clubbing heaven and one that has proved hugely popular since its inception. With one last fling before the curtain came down on the 2015 season, it had every intention of making the most of its finale.

One of our favourite Ibiza DJs this summer has been Javi Bora, he has appeared at numerous parties all over the island, delivering his cool take on the cutting edge sound that has swept through the more credible venues this season. With many of his peers singing his praises, including VIVa Warriors head honcho Steve Lawler and La Familia member Nic Fanciulli, his passion for his craft is evident every time he plays, when he dropped the remix of classic house cut ‘On The Beach’ he threatened the roof of the famous Space Ibiza. There were countless amazing performances but the duo of Tania Vulcano and Jose De Divina showed just why they have been rocking Ibiza dancefloors for over a decade, both individually and more recently in their B2B format. The vibe for Kehakuma is a little understated, it has all the qualities of a underground party – cool crowd, DJs on a mission to educate as well as entertain and a clubbing space that was built for an electrifying atmosphere.

The beauty of this particular collaboration is the musical paradox that it delivers, from the simple, stripped back vibe of Kehakuma, step out of that room and into the eccentric delight that is Elrow. Only in Ibiza could such a short journey take you to opposite worlds. With the jungle theme of 2015 evident everywhere, from huge mobiles and blown up props to costumed dancers and acrobats to pirates on stilts, adding a theatrical twist to proceedings. Elrow is not just about the visual element, although it is stunning, the residents are more than capable of building a cool musical journey at the same time. Marc Maya, De La Swing, George Privatti and Mario Biani came together on Saturday night to deliver an emotional goodbye to its loyal following, taking the packed room on a musical journey it will not forget in a hurry. It was a fitting end to a summer that has seen both club brands raise their game considerably, as Saturday night in Space became the must visit party for discerning music lovers that are not afraid to have a bit of fun. The collaboration of these two different brands proves that you can be serious about your music without taking yourself too seriously while you do it. The shutters are down for the season but look out for both club brands doing their thing throughout the winter and if you haven’t experience Kehakuma and Elrow together in Ibiza before, get it on your bucket list for next summer, you will not be disappointed!
