It’s that time of year that dance music industry professionals look forward to, especially those plying their trade in the northern half of Europe where winter can seem never ending. Bags are packed, meetings are scheduled and all eyes are on Miami. It used to be a set period of time in which everything happened, nowadays there are a series of dates, depending on what your Miami experience is. Miami Music Week takes place between March 15 and 20, Ultra Music Festival between March 18 and 20 and the Winter Music Conference from March 21 until March 24.

Founded in 1985, Winter Music Conference is the annual get together of industry bods that has offered a platform to discuss the problems facing the industry as it evolves, with a series of official parties in and around the conference. Ultra Music Festival is a three day outdoor music festival that emerged out of the WMC activities and now stands alone with the Miami Music Week offering a series of pool parties, pop-up parties, hotel and club events around the festival. For Ibiza regulars heading to Miami for any of the aforementioned parties or events, there are a few of your island favourites involved, here are some of the highlights. Basement Miami (2901 Collins Avenue) is a must visit for Ibiza lovers as it plays host to numerous island stars across the week, kicking off on Tuesday March 15 with a disco extravaganza from Jamie Jones and Lee Foss. Acid Pauli takes control of the booth of Wednesday March 16 for a psychedelic musical journey before Richie Hawtin drops in on Thursday March 17 as part of the Prototypes tour. Friday March 18 sees the fun continue as Seth Troxler offers a Big Tittie Surprise to all that attend. Hit on the news of his Pacha debut season, Maceo Plex takes over Saturday March 19 with Ellum Night and the week rounds off with a special Carl Cox disco, fun and soul event, something we know Carl takes great joy in. While we don’t expect you to spend your full week in the same venue, there are a few great nights to choose from.

Meanwhile in the main room, Marco Carola maintains his love affair with Miami, with Music On holding a successful residency in the vibrant US city. Joining the Italian for an epic night of underground beats is French combo Apollonia – Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky – three Ibiza favourites that cause mayhem on every dancefloor they oversee. It’s a massive line up for the famous downtown Miami based venue, featuring many of the Ibiza heavyweights that will play a huge role on the upcoming 2016 summer season.

Pete Tong has been a regular Miami visitor for as long as we can remember, hosting a series of exciting events during the conference. 2016 sees All Gone Pete Tong take over the Surfcomber hotel in South Beach on Thursday March 17 for a special All Gone Back 2 Back pool party featuring Pete Tong b2b Andrea Oliva, Armand van Helden b2b Jackmaster, Joris Voorn b2b Kölsch, Lauren Lane b2b Julia Govor and Steve Lawler b2b WAFF, with support from Mambo Brothers and Sean Miller from midday until 23.00H. Both parties feature a DJ set from the duo, with Boys Noize, Dusky, Heidi, The Black Madonna and Will Clarke joining them at Delano beach club and Loco Dice, Justin Martin, Tiga, Honey Dijon, Justin Jay and many more completing the late night line up. For those that prefer their dance music with a faster tempo, a breakdown or three and as many hands in the air moments as possible, check out Hardwell’s Revealed Miami Edition at Nikki Beach where Hardwell is joined by Dannic, Dallas K, Domeno and many more.

Carl Cox returns to Ultra Music Festival, where his Carl Cox & Friends stage is one of the most popular on the three-day schedule. That iconic smile has overseen some amazing Ultra moments throughout the collaboration and with the derails of this years line up released, it promises to be another massive year. With all due respect to the amazing talent on show, there is no doubt that the partisan crowd that flocks to Ultra Music Festival would be more than happy to have Carl play non stop for the full event and we get the feeling Carl would have no problem with that either! That, however, as fantastic as it would be would rob us of enjoying the talent that is Apollonia, Jon Rundell B2B Cristian Varela, Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Nicole Moudaber and Richie Hawtin. Many of the names that have appeared alongside Carl in his Music Is Revolution residency in Space Ibiza, which gets set for its final season in 2016.
