While the beach clubs in Ibiza’s South are renowned for their glitz and glamour, the further north you go, the more venues you will find that embrace the other side of the island, celebrating the magic of the White Isle and its bohemian lifestyle. Elements is arguably the jewel in the crown, combining the stunning natural beauty of its home on Benirras beach, a great culinary offering and parties with an alternative and spiritual edge. So when the invite for the popular destination’s annual summer closing landed on our desks, we knew we would be in for a day – and night – full of surprises.

In true Elements style, the event, which is a special occasion in many an island resident’s calendar, began in the daytime with plenty of kids friendly fun, wellness classes and spiritual workshops. Starting at 12am, a collaborative effort with Fantasia and Energy Week the afternoon offering included free therapeutic and healing activities, yoga sessions and, of course, a colourful market. The atmosphere was vibrant and relaxed as guests mingled and explored the kaleidoscope of sounds and sights, getting involved in laughter yoga or listening to the sacred sound concert with gongs. Massages and tarot card readings, as well as many other spiritual pursuits, were also available.

With glorious sunshine blazing down on the picturesque bay, it was also the perfect time to enjoy one more leisurely lunch outside before the weather gets too cold, and many families and groups of friends could be seen making the most of this opportunity. It is important to note though that Elements will be open during the winter, however, this was a celebration of a summer that has been busier than ever before.

As the sun began to set, the event’s focus switched to music and fantastical performances, building momentum as more and more revelers began to arrive on the beach. Bahramji mesmerized his audience with his hypnotic world music, using exotic instruments such as the Persian Santoor to create his poetic soundscapes. Teaming up with Hot Ice Ibiza’s Paul Powell and Jo for an eclectic live music offering on the terrace, the outside space was packed as guests lost themselves in the infectious rhythms.

If you have ever been to an Elements party, you will know that it is as multi-facetted as a diamond, with many different surprises waiting at every turn. For the summer closing, the team had invited us into the mystical world of Steampunk culture, with staff members and guests alike embracing the futuristic Victoriana vibe in eye-catching outfits, hair and make-up. As darkness descended onto the beach, a duo of soap bubble performers delighted their audience – and especially the children – by creating huge, shimmering spheres that floated into the night sky. Interactive art installations included an intricate third eye painting and an urban wall mural of Mickey Mouse.

Meanwhile, the party had moved inside as Elements regular Gray Swan took to the decks and kicked the party off in earnest with varied set of deep and driving beats that skillfully mixed ambient tracks with funkier numbers, visually enhanced with stunning graphics by Deepdrive. We could only be torn away from the dance floor when another performance outside the venue caught our attention; a graceful aerialist stunning onlookers with her acrobatic contortions while suspended from flowing silk in a pyramid-shaped structure. The drinks were flowing as more and more partygoers arrived, many island residents using the opportunity to finally catch up after the extended summer season.

Camillo was next up in the booth and had the crowd going wild with phat basslines on a tech house tip that were as energetic as it was contagious. There might have not been a lot of room for movement as yet more people filled into the venue, but the crowd was full of enthusiasm and Camillo had them in the palm of his hand, with many giving it their all on the floor.

Those who preferred to mingle outside underneath the starry sky were treated to a colourful and magical hula hoop performance which illuminated the darkness with its rainbow colours and neon glow. At midnight, Andy Baxter was handed the baton to continue the party marathon, and he kept the energy sky high with an energetic set that generated plenty of hands-in-the-air moment thanks to his impeccable track selection. And with the inimitable Robert Miles about to take to the decks at 2am, no one was even remotely in the mood to slow down the pace. Spanning over 12 hours and a whole spectrum of activities, music, entertainment and, quite simply, magic, Elements once again wowed us by sweeping us away in a whirlwind of Ibiza spirit and good times. Until next year!
