Blue Marin Ibiza Brings Season To Close In Perfect Fashion

As one of the island’s later summer closings, there was an element of saving some of the best until last as Blue Marlin Ibiza shut the curtain on another superb season on the Cala Jondal coast, with a day-to-evening packed full of musical talent. The beachfront hotspot has provided more than its fair share of White Isle holiday music memories, with the likes of Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, Adam Beyer and so many more artists having performed under the sun and stars at the impressive venue. For its last get together of the season, Blue Marlin Ibiza pulled-out a trio of artists of exceptional musical talent. Here’s what happened at the Blue Marlin Ibiza 2019 closing party.

Themba has been a Black Coffee resident since the start. His wicked tribal house sound, with a deep bass and darkened drummed melody has seen him take his music across the island, the world and to a whole new level. Who better to take us into sunset? Colonel Abraham’s famous Trapped acapella – which has been doing the rounds since &ME’s rework of Guy Gerber’s What To Do – had Blue Marlin Ibiza’s musically enthused audience in a real euphoric trance. Themba came, saw and controlled the atmosphere with every push of the fader.

Out with the new and in with the established, island hero Luciano was handed the decks as the evening turned to real darkness – but that didn’t mean his tunes would be any less colourful. The Vagabundos curator has been a part of Ibiza’s clubbing scene for decades now. His experience and ability to control a crowd is unparalleled. After Themba’s perfect sunset set, Luciano used his extensive record collection to mould a different kind of atmosphere, which veered towards the techno-house side. His beats were thumping and the tunes were rolling. Luciano only seems to be getting better.

ARTBAT are skyrocketing their way to the very top of the White Isle clubbing scene. Here, at Blue Marlin Ibiza, they were handed closing set duties – and it couldn’t have gone better. Their progressively uplifting, yet dark style has shoehorned itself into a genre of its own. The Ukrainian duos time in the studio has paid off, but their time behind the decks displays just as much talent. Opting for a set filled with their own releases, ARTBAT gave the Blue Marlin Ibiza closing faithful just what they wanted. This was a special kind of set, at one of the island’s most special venues. Expect to see much more of these two in the future and – hopefully – back at Blue Marlin Ibiza in 2020. What a season finisher.
