Honestly, who could foresee that this party would be such a massive, incredible, overwhelming success? Who would guess that the very much saturated scene of Ibiza 2015 will be so eager to welcome a newcomer event? Yes it was, and it did. The debut of Do Not Sleep in Vista Club, the smaller dancefloor of Privilege, was so convincing and spectacular that is deserves to be called an outstanding first step.

A bit of a preamble. Darius Syrossian, Santé and Sidney Charles felt that they have amassed a fans army big enough to set out on their own independent venture. Choosing not the most evident venue of Vista Club and not the easiest night of Sunday, they launched their new weekly concept under a straightforward name of Do Not Sleep, hinting at the insane amount of drive and energy they are going to put in this project. On Privilege opening on May 29 the trio was in charge of Vista Club room, where they booked an epic back-to-back by Heidi vs. Cajmere as well as Eagles & Butterflies and the local heroes Mambo Brothers and Iban Mendoza. Later on, on June 6, they threw a warm-up party with Flashmob, Jasper James and Bones. Finally, July 12 was on the calendar, which meant the time had come for the official full-scale opening.

In the afternoon and evening various preparties were held in hotspots located all over the island: Santé and Kidus performed at a pool party at Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Darius and Santé spun at the notorious Kiosk in San Antonio, and then the three stars (Darius, Santé and Sidney) went back-to-back-to-back in Lips restaurant in Playa d’en Bossa, being broadcast live at Be-At TV. At night a huge queue aligned in front of Privilege, and more and more people arrived every minute by taxi and on the discobus. Inside, every inch of Vista Club was full and busy: the VIP tables behind the DJs back, the dancefloor from the first till the last row, the area with the round bench previously known as Coco Loco, and the open terrace with superb views of the Balearic landscape far to the horizon. If asked to describe the public in just three words, these words would be: British, young and cool. In spite of the fact that it’s already mid-summer and the crowd somewhat lost the original enthusiasm of the season opening, here it looked like all the people present had been taking vitamins and working out daily to showcase such incredible skills of jumping, bobbing and throwing hands in the air.

Syrossian and co play a very easily identifiable music that gets a massive response from the audience in Ibiza. The even and steady rhythm, the powerful bassline, the occasional chatter of metal – all the beloved elements were present in abundance, creating a highly recognisable trademark sound for the new weekly residency. The DJs made an early decision not to take prisoners and started to drop bombs almost from the first hour of the party. The special guest for the night was Richie Ahmed, another artist who enjoys wide popularity among the island’s clubbing circuit. To round it off, it should be said that Do Not Sleep enjoyed an amazing debut. You can safely place your bets on the assumption that every single Sunday at Vista Club will be at least just as emotional as the one we visited, but most likely it will be going from strength to strength.
