A variety of world-class artists occupy resident spots in a weekly party schedule that offered something for everyone. From the hands-in-the-air madness of Monday night’s big room sound to the emotive trance soundtrack on Wednesday and a Thursday night party, In The Dark, that took clubbers to the depths of underground beats. Thursday September 21 saw the final episode of the popular party and it didn’t disappoint. In The Dark caught early season headlines when it announced its rotating resident roster for the debut season, including Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Luciano and Kölsch. Not one or even two but five of the most exciting artists of their generation, interweaving across the summer, steering what would surely be one of the most popular of the new parties. Expectation levels were understandably high when the season kicked off and several roadblock parties later, In The Dark has firmly established itself with the Ibiza tribes. The final party saw Dublin, Housekeeping, Solardo and wAFF join Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler and Luciano looking after the soundtrack, for turned out to be a fitting finale. The Theatre and the Club have witnessed some amazing collaborations this summer, across all of the weekly residencies but there was an extra edge in the air as In The Dark came to a conclusion. The Club offers a more intimate space, where the lighting is used more sparingly and where the main focus is on the beats booming out of the huge sound system. The booth itself looks like something from a futuristic movie, as Solardo cemented their reputation as one of the most exciting new talents on the underground scene. The duo rocked the dark room, taking the packed floor on a magical musical adventure, threatening the low ceiling along the way. There were stand out performances from all, Luciano struck a familiar pose, one arm raised as the breakdown reached a crescendo before kicking back in and Steve Lawler was majestic as his driving beats demanded the main room floor respond! In the Theatre, the huge visuals add a dramatic element to proceedings, complementing the stunning lighting and thunderous sound as each artist took one last turn in playing in front of, what has become a fiercely partisan crowd. It’s no surprise that the party has won over the Ibiza crowd instantly, each of its residents has a strong island following o the back of some unbelievable performances in recent years. Bringing them together, in various formats throughout the summer, ensured that the party would deliver an electric atmosphere and become one of the must visit parties for self-respecting underground music lovers visiting the island. The final party, as so many before it, exceeded expectations, there were driving beats, hypnotic loops and more than enough hand raising moments to keep the In The Dark fans happy through the winter months. For now, it’s time to drop the shutters as the DJs go about their business around the world and to look back on the introduction of a stunning new Ibiza party.
