B!CRAZY Heats Up August

B!CRAZY at HEART Ibiza is an oasis on a Friday night in the dead-middle of August.
Created by Ibiza transplant Jean Claude Ades, known internationally for curating magnetic electronic and house sounds, and is now in its eighth successful year. B!CRAZY brings together an international, elevated crowd of locals and visitors alike, diverse in age and styles but brought together by the love of a good beat and a great time. Ahead of tonight’s instalment with WhoMadeWho (DJ set) and Mar + Mer, here’s what went down at this cult party last Friday…

Even in the height of a summer marked by the extreme heat blanketing Europe, B!CRAZY at HEART Ibiza provides a respite of cool every Friday. On this particular night, the temperature wasn’t quite as scorching as it had been earlier in the day but the damp humidity hung in the air, making your clothes stick to your skin like you had just jumped into the sea. The kind of night where, if you had scored a seat on a breezy elevated terrace, you’d be tempted to just order another cold caña rather than swim through the thick air to a crowded nightclub. But, B!CRAZY at HEART Ibiza offered much-needed relief.

Inside the state-of-the-art Marina Botafoch nightclub the DJ booth was shaded by verdant trees, while LED projections on the walls featured mesmerising, Eden-inspired garden and forest scenes, with a spellbinding owl eying the crowd from her perch next to the stage. Athens-born Lannka, between gigs at the iconic Scorpios Mykonos, seduced the early arrivals with his melodic deep house. Shortly before 1AM, the intimate dance floor offered plenty of space to move around, get up close to the stage, sip your drink and dance and breathe. The atmosphere was almost tranquil – a blessing in the middle of manic August!

Outside, the expansive roof terrace was buzzing with partygoers seeking respite from the heat with the help from the expert bartenders serving up cocktails from underneath a glittering tree. A few hippy market stalls – including a tarot card reader and flowy fashions perfect for the weather – lined the space, while groups of friends enjoyed mojitos and the incredible view of the harbour. Back downstairs, the crowd had swelled just before 3am to catch British DJ and producer Nick Warren, best known for his record label and radio show The Soundgarden. He’s been all around Europe this summer; and after his set at B!CRAZY he was straight off to the Lovelands Festival in Holland, beach clubs in Turkey and Greece, and even a gig in Dubai. Warren’s set was marked by hypnotic drums that brought up the tempo and got the friendly crowd dancing in advance of headliner Ades, who launched this party to be a home for lovers of underground electronic and house – a place for partygoers to connect with music, with nature, and most importantly, with themselves.

Ades, who plays each and every week until the closing on October 4th, of course had the crowd in the palm of his hand as he led the party into the early hours of the night. Eclectic, forward-thinking and not afraid to stray off the beaten path, he kept the energy high as B!CRAZY ticked off another successful night during its 2019 run. This is a party for the music connoisseurs, one that offers a refreshingly different sound and brings some of the world’s most exciting underground talent to the island. You’d be crazy to miss it!
