Despite being one of Ibiza’s newest nights, BODYWORKS is slamming home an unbelievable first season debut. With deep and progressive house duo CamelPhat and Manchester double-act Solardo leading the line – and everyone’s favourite Aussie, FISHER, in the Club room – this Tuesday evening in Playa d’en Bossa is showing no signs of losing strength. For the first time this summer, the U.K.’s north west united for a very special four hour set in Hï Ibiza’s bespoke Theatre. Here’s what happened when CamelPhat and Solardo took over the decks for an extended back-to-back at BODYWORKS.

Season debuts aren’t easy. With so much going on, on any given night, competition is fierce, but BODYWORKS is taking it on full-speed ahead, with CamelPhat, Solardo and FISHER at the wheel, along with some special guests throughout the season. For this occasion, tech-house production champion Max Chapman was on deck-duty as the night began to gain traction. Known for his top tech-house releases and tune building mastery, Chapman is finally beginning to get the world-class recognition he deserves. He showed his professionalism with this early evening set, as he took the Theatre on a head-bobbing trip through his diverse record collection, before ramping it up as his set steamrolled towards its end. Now it was time for this much-awaited back-to-back. Even though these two DJ duos have differing styles, there was hope they’d bring the best out of each other. Could eight hands be better than two? When it comes to DJing, sometimes less is more – but CamelPhat with Solardo is a tried and proven combination. They dovetailed last summer at the mega Ushuaïa Ibiza closing, as well performing at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in the same year. This time they had four hours on the clock… it felt more like four minutes. CamelPhat’s progressive approach complimented Solardo’s tech-house touch, which created a real clubbing atmosphere. Giving each other time to craft their half of the night showcased the respect both acts have for each other. As the four-hours ran into the final minutes, CamelPhat and Solardo refused to relent and selections like Bicep’s remix of Isaac Tichauer’s Higher Level and Bicep’s own Glue took the Theatre into deeper territory, before the soundtrack moved towards something akin to Manchester’s famous Haçienda club. Inner City’s Good Life had Hï Ibiza two-stepping back into the 90s. This was a serious back-to-back; one we hope to see again soon.

Although we didn’t catch the charismatic Aussie this time, you can bet it was all hand waves and filthy beats, as it always is in Hï Ibiza’s alternative dancefloor for BODYWORKS.
