Together Closing Shakes Up Amnesia Posted on September 19, 2018 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: Andrei Oprescu share this tweet this After a rip-roaring 8th season on the White Isle, on Tuesday night Together ended its tour de force in Ibiza with a heady mix of big beats and big names! Reading like a mini ‘Who Is Who’ of chart toppers, the line-up was packed with icons from the house and drum & bass scene; the electronic music equivalent of Sophie’s Choice for the keen clubbers in attendance. With Technik and Les Schmitz opening up the Terrace and the Club respectively, followed by My Nu Leng and Caal, when we arrived outside the familiar silhouette of Amnesia we heard upbeat and energetic house beats drifting into our left ear, while to the right a fierce drum & bass crescendo vied for our attention. After a quick consultation of the set times, we decided to begin our night on the Terrace, where Ibiza favourite DJ EZ already had the dancefloor pulsating with enthusiastic revellers. Losing themselves to the feel-good beats, the young and trendy crowd was giving it their all until the haunting notes of Katy B’s On A Mission ended EZ’s set with the verdict that ‘this right here I swear will end too soon’. The Club was equally caught in the moment as chart toppers Sigma treated the room to a set jam-packed with sing-along anthems overlaid by a ferocious, shredding bassline that gave hits such as Dua Lipa’s The One, Blow A Kiss Fire A Gun by Major Lazer and DJ Snake, and even – we almost choked on our chupito – Adele’s Hello the drum & bass treatment. Of course, Sigma classic’s such as Nobody To Love went down a storm as the room was bathed in a dramatic display of lasers and steam bursts. With little fuss, headlining act and Together ambassadors Chase & Status followed suit, on this occasion represented by Will Kennard (Status) and MC Rage, who was firing on the crowd relentlessly as the DJ dropped the band’s biggest hits thick and fast. Bouncing up and down, some with their eyes closed in reckless abandon, eager fans were flying across the dancefloor not unlike the famous twirling dervishes as the ferocious notes of Music Club, Step Away and All Crew reverberated across the room. Exhausted from flitting between the two rooms, we eventually made our choice and decided to end the night back on the terrace, where Gorgon City and Sonny Fodera were serving up a killer b2b set. The irresistibly bouncy and infectious bassline of Fisher’s Losing it drew us right into the crowd, just in time for a perfectly teased drop and an icy burst from the C02 canon that enveloped us. The boys were visibly having a blast in the booth, too, as they cleverly mixed classic samples from house anthems such as Gala’s Freed From Desire with white-hot current tracks. With the room bathed in colourful lasers and an explosion of confetti set off to announce the arrival of turntable legend MK, the carefree, fun and feel-good vibes of Together showed us once more why the concept has long established itself as one of Ibiza’s most popular nights. share this tweet this
