Spoil Yourself With Ushuaïa Ibiza’s “Unexpected Breakfast”

From the glamorous rooms to the high-octane parties, it’s fair to say that Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel’s approach to hospitality is ‘go big or go home’. Available between 8am and 11.30am every single day at Ushuaïa Ibiza’s onsite seaside restaurant The Beach, the “Unexpected Breakfast” is included for hotel guests and available to visiting diners for 50 Euros per head. For this price, an extravaganza of mouth-watering breakfast, brunch and even lunch treats PLUS free-flowing cava, coffee and juice awaits. We went along at a relatively early (for Ibiza) starting time of 9am and were surprised that even us busy worker bees could feel like we were on the holiday of a lifetime for one luxurious morning!

At this time of day, the vast expanse of Playa d’en Bossa is surprisingly tranquil and taking our seats on the chic sun-dappled terrace overlooking the plush daybeds put us instantly into relaxation mode. World-famous for its high energy parties with some of the world’s biggest DJ talent in the booth, Ushuaïa Ibiza breakfasts start on a much gentler note, with breezy live vocals and acoustic guitar beats drifting into our ears.

Without further ado, we raced off to explore the simply insane buffet that awaited. First stop: life-reaffirming espressos from the huge self-service machines (you can also order at the table and ask for special coffee creations topped with all sorts of magic and sparkle) and detoxing fresh juices, with choices including alkalising greens, summery water melon and the classic Vitamin C bomb mix of orange and carrot. We resisted the sparkling wine – for now.

Then, the really tough choice began. Doing a round of the lovingly decorated food stalls, our minds were well and truly blown. From made-to-order eggs to sweet crepes, exotic fruits to the finest Iberian ham, a whole section dedicated to cheese and cold-cut meats, freshly baked goods and deli salads, you better come with an appetite! Still feeling a little tipsy from the night before? Why not bust that hangover with a freshly carved kebab? Meanwhile, Instagram trendsetters might want to try a hip and healthy poke bowl as the culinary journey around the globe reaches Hawaii.

A piece of advice that you won’t hear a lot where breakfast is concerned: leave room for dessert! The “Unexpected Breakfast” makes even Willy Wonka’s wildest dreams come true with its vast sweets selection. From a whole wall stacked with colourful donuts, red velvet and carrot cake slices the size of doorstoppers, a bubbling chocolate fountain and a miniature Ferris wheel transporting different kinds of candy in its compartments, you may feel like you are still dreaming. Feeling slightly overwhelmed, as we eventually admitted defeated to our bursting bellies we decided now was definitely the time to hit the cava – and toast an incredibly indulgent morning on the White Isle. Time and time again, just when we thought we’d seen it all Ushuaïa Ibiza comes along and proves us wrong…
