Pete Tong Sessions Welcomes Cocoon’s Sven Väth At Blue Marlin Ibiza

Starting a third summer on the White Isle in style, Sundays at Blue Marlin Ibiza have become synonymous with quality music spun by an eclectic array of the world’s most talented artists as curated by Pete Tong for his Pete Tong Sessions. The latest edition saw the legendary DJ and producer invite no other than techno icon Sven Väth to the outdoor booth, who has been blessing us with the sound of Cocoon for 20 years now. 

To celebrate their time on the White Isle, the German techno brand has been taking their tried and tested success concept to Ibiza’s finest addresses. Its latest stop at Blue Marlin Ibiza was, in fact, a homecoming of sorts, as the first ever Cocoon after event was held at the world-famous Cala Jondal venue. In 2019, the triple threat of this iconic seaside setting, leading British broadcaster Pete Tong and, of course, Papa Sven came together for one epic edition of Pete Tong Sessions. Here’s how it unfolded.

Making our way through a very busy Blue Marlin Ibiza, Fabe had the honour of opening proceedings and treated us to a very cool, sun-soaked set. As the sun began to set and the huge, silver Full Moon began to rise, Pete Tong took over the reins, rolling out his very best for the summer. The master selector has been an island staple for decades and his Pete Tong Sessions is one of the world-famous venues most popular residencies. As we enjoyed a deliciously refreshing Mojito, Tong was stirring-up a set just as punchy and was showing just why this concept has become so popular. Time by Armonica set the tone as the sun began to fade and the British music tastemaker handed over to Väth.

On closing set duties, the German techno icon was ready to bring that distinct Cocoon sound to the Cala Jondal coast. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Blue Marlin Ibiza under a clear night sky is an absolute dream – and Papa Sven was making sure the track selection was just as idyllic. Artbat’s Return To Oz and Adana Twins’ remix of Patrice Bäumel’s Roar were the perfect mood makers at one of the world’s best seaside venues. Väth was displaying his very best for the season, his set a perfect example of Cocoon’s ongoing success on Ibiza.

Pete Tong Sessions continues every Sunday until September 29^th, where the legendary DJ will invite further very special guests including some of the biggest names in the scene. Black Coffee, The Martinez Brothers, Peggy Gou and Joseph Capriati, to name a few, will all be joining Tong throughout the summer.
