Making Music At Magic

Posted on September 11, 2014

Magic Music Studios could not be more aptly named, the state of the art dream world for musicians and DJ/ producers offers facilities that many of them can only dream about but now is at their finger tips. Magic Music Studios can be found in the heart of the Ibiza countryside, in the mountains between San Lorenzo and San Juan, offering a stunning and tranquil setting in which to produce music. It is the brain child of two Ibiza veterans, Max Martire and Lenny Ibizarre, whose shared musical vision has resulted on one of the finest studios on the planet, never mind the island.

As a DMC finalist in 1987 as well as one of the Space Terrace original residents alongside Daniele Poli, Brandon Block and Alex P, Max has made a huge impact on the electronic dance scene as well as on the evolution of Ibiza into the clubbing capital of the world. Lenny is also a significant figure in the island’s musical tapestry, becoming one of the first producers from the island to be signed to a big label in the 90’s, seeing Warner Music release his infamous album series ‘The Ambient Collection’ and someone that has continued to make a contribution to the island music scene ever since. The duo share a musical philosophy and a vision that has resulted in the building of Magic Music Studios. The concept features three different studios, one for recording, one for producing and one for mastering, each containing state of the art equipment to allow the best results possible. A visit to Magic is by invitation only and, so far, all of those invited have been blown away by the level of facilities they have encountered. The main inspiration behind the building of the studios is a Lenny and Max collaboration, Aristofreeks, a project that injects fresh sounds into classic disco, one that has already captured the imagination and the ears of clubbers on and off the island. Aristofreeks sees Max and Lenny work with artists such as Kathy Sledge as well as the former Chic vocalists – Alfa Anderson, Norma-Jean Wright and Luci Martin. Working with disco aristocracy such as this required a fitting facility and hence Magic Music Studios was born, with the technology to deliver a sound that was deserving of all the talent involved. The big winners are the countless DJ/ Producers and bands that will benefit from the facilities, not to mention the public that will be dancing to the music that is produced within.

The final piece of the musical puzzle is also well under way, with brand new radio station Balearic Beats soon to make its debut on our airwaves. This studio will be in a private part of the complex and unavailable to the public, unless invited or with the artists performing live on a show. The station aims to give space to the history of the Balearic sound, from new wave, indie and some pop through to electronic music in its widest sense. Magic Music Studios might have been born through a desire to make the best music possible from the Aristofreeks, but the legacy will be a facility that allows artists on the island to deliver their very best, something that can only be healthy and positive for the further evolution of the music scene in Ibiza.
