Armin van Buuren becomes the latest international artist to take over the Theatre in Hï Ibiza, when the Wednesday residency Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano gets underway on June 21. Having already been at the heart of several high profile Ibiza parties, as well as his own previous residencies, the Dutch trance master is all set for an exciting new chapter.

The weekly Wednesday party will feature a series of international guests appearing alongside Armin in the elevated Theatre booth and, having witnessed some of the amazing production in Ibiza’s latest super club already and being acutely aware of the lengths Armin van Buuren and his team goes to in making each show is memorable, it’s understandable that expectation levels throughout the clubbing capital are soaring.

Joining Armin van Buuren every week will be fellow Dutch artists Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano, looking after the Club, where a slightly different vibe will be on offer. It makes for a strong Wednesday night for Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and one that Hï Ibiza is eager to share. Having worked with the duo previously, and having produced a brand new track especially for the new party, Armin vaan Buuren is another one that is desperate to get the doors open. We caught up with Armin exclusively to talk about what we can expect from Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and his favourite Ibiza hang outs…

How exciting is it to be starting a residency in a brand new Ibiza venue, with the ability to write the story from the beginning?
It’s awesome! I’ve been a resident in many clubs in Ibiza for years but this feels like the beginning of a new chapter.

Hï Ibiza has enjoyed a lightening start to its Ibiza life, with state of the art sound and light and an experience designed to cater to the clubber and the dancefloor; was that knowledge instrumental in your decision to take on your residency?
Yes of course. Ibiza has always been trend setting worldwide. Lots of party people come to the island to enjoy high quality sets and atmosphere.

You’ve been at the centre of several of Ibiza’s biggest parties, what can we look forward to from your residency?
New concept, stage design and the sound is a bit deeper. I really can’t wait!

Your recent residency in Ushuaïa featured some impressive production, Is that something we should be on the lookout for from your night in Hï Ibiza?
Yes absolutely. Secretly we’ve been working hard with the Hï  Ibiza team to make something that you won’t forget easily.

The Dutch theme carries throughout the club, with Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano occupying the other room, how much do you know about your countrymen and what makes them the perfect room-mates on the night?
I really love their own unique sound. They are two amazing guys and we hang out a lot. We toured a lot together around the world. We actually made a brand new track exclusively for the new night!

Who are you looking forward to performing alongside?
We have some high profile guests like Vini Vici, Marlo etc. They are the leaders of that particular sound they bring.

You’ve been travelling extensively as part of your latest global tour, how much are you looking forward to being in the same place weekly for a while?
Ibiza has always felt like my second home. My family will be there for most of the weeks so I get to enjoy some sunshine too!

The recent tour has seen a number of open air stadium gigs, how much does the more intimate space inside a club, albeit it a hugely impressive room, impact on the concept?
I love the difference! You don’t want to eat steak every day ha-ha.

When you’re not in the booth, how do you spend your time in Ibiza?
I love going to the smaller beaches in the north or chill at a villa. I have two kids so you see us on the beach almost every day.

What are your three favourite hang-out spots?
I love Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza of course but other than that we still go to Sa Capella every year. It’s become tradition since my first visit in 2000!
