Known as one of the island’s most colourful, fun and extravagant parties, Glitterbox at Hï Ibiza is the perfect clubbing option for those seeking feel-good music with an atmosphere to match. Having entered its sixth season on the island, the Defected-owned party brand is spearheading a true model of expression and flamboyance, leaving behind a trail of glitter and smiles along the way. Now it’s found its true home at Hï Ibiza since the club first opened in 2017, Glitterbox just keeps getting better. For this middle-of-the-season Sunday spectacle, Essential Ibiza joined the shined and ready Hï Ibiza revellers, who were here for a line-up featuring Dimitri From Paris, Basement Jaxx, The Shapeshifters and more. Here’s what happened.

Having made it into Hï Ibiza a little later than hoped, Basement Jaxx were already in the midst of their two-hour Theatre set. Scampering our way into the main room, Jellybean Benitez caught our attention as he threw down some proper party tunes in the Club. Technotronic’s timeless Pump Up The Jam was an ear magnet and had us caught on a fishing line as we attempted to make it into the Theatre. Dropping THAT Roberto Surace tune soon after, the Club room was bouncing to Jellybean Benitez’s sweet tunes.

Luckily we still had almost an hour of Basement Jaxx to enjoy, with legendary dance music pairing in full flow. Their set – as expected and as hoped – was filled with their own funky productions. Never Say Never and Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Summer Mix of Do Your Thing received a top reception. Basement Jaxx were giving it some and more. Ending on Enzo Elia’s Balaeric Gabba Edit of Soft House Company’s What You Need, the pair had everybody’s arms in the air as Felix Buxton took to the microphone to thank everyone for such a special evening. This was exactly what Glitterbox is about.

After taking a small breather in Hï Ibiza’s heavenly Secret Garden, we made our way back to the Theatre where Simon Marlin from The Shapeshifters was handed with closing duties. It was surprising to still see so much energy on the dancefloor after such a fiery peak-time Basement Jaxx set. These Glitterbox party-seekers were by no means done dancing – and Simon Marlin knew exactly how to keep them going. Pjanoo by Eric Prydz was the ultimate selection as confetti fell and smiles rose. This was one special night, soundtracked by some very special selectors.

Glitterbox will have you leaving high on the music. This isn’t a poser’s party. Glitterbox is all about expression, being yourself and feeling comfortable in a place where uniqueness is not only accepted, but celebrated. In the end, this is what Ibiza is all about.
