Watching a sunset in San Antonio is a sight everyone should experience during their time on Ibiza. With tasty food, luxurious cocktails and an unbeatable view of the island’s famous sunset coast, where better to enjoy it than at the iconic Café Mambo?

The official return to the Sunset Strip hotspot was always going to be a busy one.  In 2019, the famous bar is celebrating its 25th anniversary on the island and this was the grand season opening. There was an excitement in the air as revellers from all parts of the island descended on the San Antonio coast. Families, couples, young people and those young at heart were all in attendance to celebrate a quarter century of Café Mambo and – of course – one of the first Ibiza sunsets of the brand new season.

As the sun began to disappear in the water, the drinks kept flowing and the good vibes kept building. The atmosphere was invigorating and there were more than just a few familiar faces in the crowd. House legend Roger Sanchez, Ibiza native Manu Gonzalez and, of course, heirs to the empire the Mambo Brothers came down to enjoy a perfect evening in San Antonio. Pete Gooding was on sunset deck duties, treating us to some laid-back and deep house beats until the grand finale. When the fireball disappeared into the waves accompanied by the iconic notes of Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma, hundreds of onlookers – including ourselves – broke out in goosebumps.

Day turned to night and Riva Starr turned it up a gear. The Italian house hitter had everyone swapping their seats for the dancefloor situated in-front of that world famous DJ booth. This was no pre-party set. Tonight Café Mambo was the main attraction and THE place to be, and this all came together when resident Jason Bye dropped Joe Smooth’s Promised Land. A moment like that is when you really have to pinch yourself. Truly Ibiza.

As the evening drew to a close, the seafront promenade was buzzing with summertime good vibes. It’s no surprise Café Mambo has grown into the attraction it is. You don’t go for the food, the cocktails or the music; but for the whole experience – but it does help that those three elements are always on point! Enjoy a Café Mambo sunset, food, drinks and a whole lot of club pre-parties with world-class DJs in the booth this summer, every night. Here’s to the next 25 years!
