Café Mambo Founder Javier Anadon Named IMS Legend 2019 Posted on April 27, 2019 Words: Olivia Ebeling share this tweet this Ibiza sunsets are nothing short of breath-taking – fact. And witnessing the daily spectacle with your nearest and dearest, a tasty cocktail or cold beer in hand while chilled Balearic beats drift into your ears is an unmissable ritual for Ibiza virgins and veterans alike. At the top of the island’s sunset scene is Café Mambo, one of the most iconic addresses on the White Isle and this year, its founder Javier Anadon is being honoured with the IMS Legends Award for his services not only to Ibiza, but millions of happy holidaymakers, music lovers and sunset worshippers. Every year, the trophy is awarded to true pioneers of the dance music industry in a bid to recognise and pay tribute to the artists and trailblazers that have helped write dance music history and define its culture. During his flagship venue’s 25th anniversary year, Ibicencan businessman and creator Anadon has been chosen for the illustrious title and will be celebrated at the annual IMS Legends banquet, fittingly held at the Mambo Groups beautiful rural hotel and restaurant Casa Maca. He is joining the ranks of previous recipients, which include international artists Nile Rodgers, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Underworld, plus Space Ibiza founder Pepé Rosello and Pacha Group founder Ricardo Urgell. Founded in the ‘90s heyday of house music, over the years Café Mambo has seen the biggest names in dance music playing at the celebrated sunset ‘pre-parties’ with the likes of IMS co-founder Pete Tong, Annie Mac, David Guetta, Erick Morillo, Eric Prydz, Sister Bliss, Smokin Jo, Swedish House Mafia, Sasha, NERVO, Paul Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez and many more taking to the decks. All the while, Anadon continued to grow his empire and now counts several of the island’s most popular and beautiful restaurants, bars and hotels as part of the Mambo Group’s portfolio. His two sons, DJs and producers Christian and Alan, help to carry on the enormous legacy as dynamic duo The Mambo Brothers. Anandon says of his win, ‘I am extremely thankful for all the friends and family that have been around me over the years to make the dream of Café Mambo a reality and to create one of the most special places in the world. I am blessed to have met so many amazing people during this journey, and it’s a real honour to receive this award from IMS as Café Mambo turns 25 years young. We have had so many fantastic moments over the years – I hope that we can celebrate all together for many more years to come!’ The IMS Legends dinner 2019 will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd at 8pm and will feature live performances from renowned Spanish guitarist Paco Fernandez, who will bring his unique blend of traditional Mediterranean sounds infused with electronica, as well as incredible new talent Astrid Canales who will mesmerize guests with her mixture of traditional and classical sounds fused with cool pop and stunning vocals. Limited tickets are available to purchase now from the IMS website, with Early Bird prices starting at 130 Euros per person, or entry is included with Delegate Plus and All Access badge tiers.
