Master At Work and true house icon Louie Vega is back alongside his wife Anané at HEART Ibiza for another season instalment of The Ritual, with Heart Factory. For the opening, the New York party pairing invited everyone’s favourite Italian, Joseph Capriati, to roll-out his unique techno and house mixture that he’s become idolised for. With thousands turning out to see their hero in action, Essential Ibiza joined them in the Heart Factory to see how this one would go down.

HEART Ibiza was transatlantically transformed with signs hanging from the roof showing reverence to the Bronx’s rich house music history. The Martinez Brothers, Masters At Work and Louie Vega’s Elements Of Life – all produced in this New York borough – were signposted. The Big Apple was here on Ibiza – and Anané was giving us a first taste of what to expect. She was stylish, fearless and full of energy, with a soundtrack to match. Each tune had a thumping attitude with the coolest vocals you’ll ever hear. Todd Terry’s unofficial remix of Childish Gambino’s This Is America was a rapturous selection that had the marina shaking.

Louie Vega entered the booth to a birthday introduction from his wife Anané, only after she’d just thrown down an astonishing opening set. After that one, I’d be tempted to say good luck Louie, but you don’t reach his level through luck. Little Louie Vega has been spinning tracks for as long as house music has been listened to. Despite the birthday celebrations, the pint-sized Puerto Rican/American meant business. Moving between that distinct garage house style and a slightly heavier beat, Vega was untiring with his mixing efforts. On his 53rd birthday, Little Louie was faultlessly racking-up track after track after track. If there’s one person who could blend oil and water, it’d be Louie Vega.

After some Louie Vega mastery and a back-to-back treat with Anané, Joseph Capriati arrived to play his second set of the season. With this summer’s heaters warmed and ready, Capriati was just a hot on the decks. Going on until the early hours, the charismatic Neapolitan was serving-up a tasty trio of house, techno and disco. This was a slightly alternative Capriati set. Opting to go less-darker than usual, the Italian DJ and producer created an atmosphere like no other. When he dropped Peggy Gou’s dreamy Starry Night, HEART Ibiza was in Capriati’s hands – and there was no place it’d rather be.

Heart Factory’s second instalment of the season was a big one. Each Tuesday alternates giving a chance for other sounds to take over the artistic Ibiza Town venue. One thing is for sure, though: Heart Factory always produces. You can see for yourself until Tuesday 1st of October, this season.
