SEAHORSE IBIZA is a name we heard several times throughout the start of the summer, a brand new dining concept in Playa d’e Bossa that clearly caught the imagination. When we received an invitation from Maria Jose of the Playasol Group, we didn’t hesitate to accept. We had been curious as to where this new eatery was and, when we found out it was part of the newly revamped Hotel Playasol The New Algarb hotel, we couldn’t wait to get down there.

Playa d’en Bossa has always held a special place in our hearts, we lived there before finding Santa Gertrudis and its evolution in recent years to become one of the most popular resorts in Spain never mind Ibiza, has been one we have followed eagerly. Hotel Playasol The New Algarb has always been a popular destination for younger visitors to Ibiza but it has really stepped up its game in recent years. A completely stylish makeover that includes a reception boasting a giant screen featuring videos of all your favourite parties courtesy of Ibiza TV, a concierge organising everything from car hire to club tickets and its very own radio show, broadcasting from behind a glass studio. It makes quite the impact! Broadcasting to the Playasol Ibiza Hotels and across Ibiza and Formentera on 92.4FM, the station offers an eclectic Balearic selection of music that soundtracks your Ibiza adventure, from chilling during the day to getting ready for the party at night.

SEAHORSE IBIZA is the hotel restaurant on the front overlooking Bossa Beach, open to the public it offers a tranquil hideaway from the island’s biggest and busiest beach. The interior and decoration is the work of renowned Spanish designer Rodríguez De Las Parras, creator of Med Interior Design in Marbella, Málaga (Costa del Sol). He has delivered a stylish space that oozes class but also invites guests to relax and feel at home during their visit. The furniture incorporates a mixture of bright colours with striking white and the stunning backdrop that is the view out across Bossa beach, with the golden sand and bright blue sky reminds us of a world class beach club setting. The staff is on point, greeting us with a warm welcome and immediately putting us at ease.

The elevation above Bossa beach adds to the privacy but also affords an uninterrupted view of the famous stretch of sand and beyond towards Formentera. To the right of the restaurant there are a selection of luxurious white cabanas, with a very reasonable spend per head (25 euros), where you can relax and enjoy a day on one of Ibiza’s most popular beaches. The menu is inspired by its location, boasting a wide selection of Mediterranean favourites, from refreshing salads to mouth-watering seafood and delicious, traditional rice dishes. The highlights are too many too mention but starter stand outs include the crayfish salad with avocado and passionfruit vinaigrette, the authentic Iberian platter, which incorporates ham, chorizo, sausage and an assortment of croquettes (ham, chicken and chees) and is accompanied by bread with tomato.

For your main course, you have a big decision to make. The lobster with free-range eggs, Sobrasada and potato payesa is the obvious star but the oven-baked Sea Bass with sautéed vegetables and potato slices gives it a run for its money, as does the juicy chicken from Ibiza, with grand Padano cheese and a rocket salad with cherry tomatoes. For two people sharing, head to the selection f traditional rice dishes, from the vegetable paella to the arroz a banda with cuttlefish and prawns and the rice with lobster, there is plenty to choose from. There’s even a special Tiny Seahorse menu for the kids, which offers an unusually large variety, making sure that there is something for everyone. To round off your feast, SEAHORSE IBIZA looks after all of those with a sweet tooth. The Flaó is a mint cheesecake recipe from Ibiza, the chocolate brownie is served on white chocolate soup with ice cream, there’s a warm tarte-tatin with vanilla ice cream and, for those on a mission to control their calories, there’s the fresh seasonal fruit (with ice cream). Don’t be afraid to ask for the chefs recommendations, there’s always something special happening in the SEAHORSE IBIZA kitchen.

SEAHORSE IBIZA is a spectacular addition to Ibiza, offering a stylish, laid back vibe in the heart of its busiest resort. It’s clear that the restaurant has been created with love and attention to detail, making sure you have somewhere you can spend the afternoon or evening enjoying great food, complemented by an amazing selection of wines and enjoy a more relaxed experience of Bossa Beach. It’s the perfect spot for that witching hour, when the sun makes its journey below the horizon and day eases into night, enjoy the comfort of the huge sofas, sip a crisp white wine and toast another day in paradise.
