While the White Isle may be famous for its fresh seafood and fantastic fruit and vegetables, Ibiza also boasts a rich history in wine production. On Friday, June 28th, local organisation Walking Ibiza is offering a guided tour of the island’s “wine valley” San Mateu complete with a tasting of wine, tapas, Hierbas Ibicencas and olive oil. As always, you will get insight into the island’s fascinating culture and many local anecdotes during the four-hour foodie experience.

Starting at 17.00 from the church of San Mateu, the route will lead your group through the ancient vines before reaching its final destination of bodega Can Maymo, where you will enjoy a tour around the winery, meet the owners and – of course – sample their products. For 35 Euros per person including the walk, a tasting menu of wine, some tapas, olive oil and Can Maymo’s new Hierbas liquor awaits. Throughout the experience, your knowledgeable Walking Ibiza guide will regale you with stories behind the island’s wine production from the ancient to the modern. To avoid disappointment, you must pre-book this tour via the organisation’s website www.walkingibiza.com as places are limited.

WalkingIbiza Toby MenorcaExploring the island’s rich and varied countryside away from the coast is a relaxing, fun and informative way of getting to know Ibiza better. Walking Ibiza founder Toby Clarke started the organisation in 2010 after his own expeditions inspired him to share the secret paths and stunning locations he discovered with the world. Most famously, Toby walked around the whole island by himself accompanied by just his loyal dog Cosmo and with only 1 Euro in his pocket. This incredible “Around The Island Adventure” is now a firm part of the Walking Ibiza programme as Toby leads intrepid explorers around Ibiza twice a year in May and October.

The San Mateu Wine Walk is one of several new additions to the walking tour company’s varied offering. From Mindful Walks to Sunset and Full Moon Kayaking, Short & Sweet routes to Sunday Social tours, all routes are available to the public for a donation from 10 Euros per person. The specialised gourmet tours are priced according to the food and drink consumed. Real foodies will also love sister company Ibiza Food Tours’ four-hour culinary expedition, which will visit several local delicatessen hotspots and hidden insider gems around the atmospheric setting of Ibiza Town for 79€ per person.
