DJ Awards Announce 22nd Edition With “Plastic No More” Theme Posted on June 12, 2019 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: Tamara Sini share this tweet this Every year, the DJ Awards honour the people, venues, destinations and initiatives that have made an impact not only on Ibiza, but also the international dance music scene. Today, the organisation has announced its 22nd edition will take place on Monday, September 16th, at HEART Ibiza under the theme “Plastic No More”. Celebrating newcomers and industry icons alike, the 2018 DJ Awards saw members of the public from over 150 countries – as well as a panel of industry experts – cast their votes across 17 music categories that boasted 161 nominees, with winners including the likes of Master At Work, Adam Beyer, Jamie Jones, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox and many more. This year, the ceremony will put a special focus on raising awareness within the dance music industry on how to find sustainable solutions to eliminate the use of plastic. With the Balearic Islands set to ban single-use plastic by 2020, the topic couldn’t be more apt. Returning to state-of-the-art Marina Botafoch superclub HEART Ibiza for a second year, this year the DJ Awards will grant access to the music-loving public like never before. In its fifth year on the White Isle, the venue is well established as a magical place that fuses fine food, art, theatrical performances and – of course – cutting-edge music in one intoxicating and unforgettable mix. For the night of September 16th, a special curated menu awaits guests who secure a table to enjoy HEART Ibiza’s unique hospitality and immersive entertainment before, at the stroke of midnight, the DJ Awards will get underway. Presenting the iconic green kryptonite trophies to DJs, producers and influencers from the global music scene, following the ceremony the dancefloor will be opened for the after party with a line-up featuring some of the 2019 winners. A limited number of tickets to attend both the Ceremony and DJ Awards Party will be on sale, while reservations for the dining experience need to be made separately.
