A Blissful 24 Hours At Las Mimosas Ibiza Posted on July 21, 2018 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: La Skimal share this tweet this Every summer, sometime halfway through high season, the Essential Ibiza crew sneaks away from the office for a little rest and relaxation – and this year, we were thrilled to check out the tranquil and stylish boutique hotel Las Mimosas in San Antonio Bay. Formerly a resort of apartments, the property has been taken over by the world-famous Mambo Group and lovingly converted into a 4-star accommodation option – and after being wowed by the makeover at the official launch party some weeks ago we were eager to find out more… Just a short stroll from Cala de Bou and Playa Pinet, Las Mimosas is set back from the lively road that runs along the bay, meaning you can enjoy peace and quiet while being only moments away from the action. The hotel has been redecorated completely and now offers a modern and trendy fusion of sleek white furnishings paired with a natural colour palette and hip design elements. Upon entering our room – Las Mimosas exclusively offers junior suites and suites – we were immediately wowed by the plush double bed, free-standing bath tub, spacious shower complete with a rain shower head and the spacious balcony with views over the daybed-lined swimming pool. A coffee machine, mini bar stocked with deli products from Ibiza, luxurious Grown Alchemist beauty products and a sweet welcome note and chocolates added the finishing touches. However, the spa was calling us, and so we headed downstairs for a massage. Boasting a Turkish steam bath, traditional Finnish sauna, ice fountain and bubbling plunge pool, the wellness haven has everything your heart could possibly desire to shake off the stresses of every day life and get into the holiday spirit. And after several weeks of late nights, epic parties and a few too many drinks, we were more than happy to kick back. Open from 10am until 8pm, the spa menu offers a variety of facials, body treatments and massages, and we indulged in an utterly blissful relaxation massage that helped us get rid of any remaining tensions while also rehydrating our sun-parched skin. Feeling totally Zen by now, we decided to catch the last rays of the sun by the turquoise statement pool, a spacious basin lined with huge, comfy daybeds and filled with fun inflatables. Like children, we couldn’t resist jumping and floating across the azure water. Having worked up an appetite, we ordered a heavenly soft loaf of focaccia bread from Mimo’s Italian, Las Mimosas’ onsite restaurant, which was covered with fresh rosemary and sundried tomatoes, the perfect poolside sharing dish. And as the sun made its descend, we toasted our mini staycation with a selection of refreshing cocktails; the floral and sweet La Primavera and the potent Il Peccato, a Jack Daniels-fuelled concoction made with energy-boosting coffee. Never able to resist a good Italian, we decided not to stray from our newly discovered slice of paradise and enjoy dinner in the hotel. Mimo’s offers some mouth-watering Mediterranean options, and we feasted on a creamy burrata salad dressed with mint pesto, pomegranate, avocado and pine nuts, crunchy vegetable croquetas, utterly addictive truffle tagliatelle, a perfectly roasted chicken served in a spicy tomato sauce and a classic and satisfying Margarita pizza. We washed these tasty treats down with another round of cocktails, this time trying the unique La Regina G, which fuses Martin Millers with green tea and vanilla aromas, the refreshing and fruity La Passione with rum, limoncello, strawberry and prosecco, and a zesty Limone Rosso that mixes the classic Italian limoncello with lime, vanilla and a touch of red wine. After stretching out the evening further with a silky smooth and aromatic tiramisu and the most delicious mint and chocolate ice cream, we eventually crawled into our heavenly soft beds and fell into a deep slumber… Perhaps unsurprisingly, we overslept the next morning and wandered down to breakfast in a blissful daze… Woken up by a strong coffee, we tucked into a hearty plate of eggs benedict and a classic continental breakfast of sweet croissants, hearty ham and cheese rolls, and a healthy fruit bowl. What harm can a few more hours by the pool do, we figured, eager to extend our stay as long as possible before rejoining reality feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world once more!
