Tucked away a few steps above the Figueretas seaside promenade, Baboon Bar is a subtly stylish space that you find because you have either done your research, or because it has been recommended to you by an insider. It may be only a few metres away from the more obvious beachside haunts in physical distance, but it couldn’t be further away from the brash bars and eateries that vie for the tourists attention. The interiors are as hip and ‘en point’ as you would expect from a Marstrander creation. Rich brown walls are decorated with eye-catching urban monkey illustrations, while cream leather sofas with cowhide cushions beckon for you to take a seat and peruse the extensive cocktail list. Vintage style exposed light bulbs hang from retro lamp shapes while the ‘secret’ bar ingredients are stored in antique glass containers. Fresh pink lilies and lush green palm plants add a touch of vibrancy to the space, which, on opening night, is filled with a stylish and eclectic crowd of all ages; the movers and shakers of the island as well as their extended circle of friends and family.
