La Troya Ibiza Posted on July 13, 2013 share this tweet this Words: Lena Kochetkova Images: Nic J. Wednesday night in Ibiza is when the freaks come out to play: La Troya welcomes to Amnesia terrace the glorious polysexual crowd to spend several hours in a high voltage atmosphere and feel not love but lust, tons of lust in the air. For more than a decade La Troya has been one of the strongest nights on the island – no matter how the rules and traditions of clubbing change with the course of time, the magical power of this adorable party seems to be eternal. No wonder – human craving for sensual delights and visual beauty is everlasting as well… La Troya has a strong team of resident DJs who know their crowd and their trade and are basically self-sufficient. The party actually doesn’t need any extra invited stars, but the hedonistic and narcissistic Marc Vedo & Boy George tandem makes such a wonderful match to the concept that the promoters couldn’t help but invite both to play guest sets from time to time. On July 10 celebrity guests graced the decks at Amnesia terrace supporting the residents Les Schmitz and Oscar Colorado. It all actually started in the afternoon at Sands, the infamous beach restaurant at the very centre of Playa d’en Bossa. Both artists played there and enjoyed their dinner paying homage to the new menu created by Tim Payne, the star of ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen and the former head chef of Paradise in London. The daytime event was hosted by the notorious UK clubbing brand Koolwaters. With a reputation for hosting cool parties all over the clubbing world, as well as delivering some of the biggest club anthems, Koolwaters dropped into Sands for an early evening warm up overlooking the beach before the main event in Amnesia mater that night. Long after the sun has disappeared, the action moved to Amnesia. Each of the La Troya parties has its theme, and tonight the theme was Fashion Is My Profession. The podiums were in abundance adorned with logos of the most famous international fashion brands, and the costumes of the performers reflected the latest trends in both elegant nightlife clothing and dirty dancing. La Troya’s formula of success consists of combining sexuality and humour in equal proportions, so there were plenty of things not only to admire but also to laugh your head off at. For example, while tall muscular suntanned bodies were showcasing their superb dancing techniques at podiums to the right and to the left, the central stage was occupied by a stubby bearded guy in a freaky self-made dress, havayanas and a hat that can be approximately described as Micky Mouse ears turned aside. The guy was chewing a pie (not a humble one, obviously) and posing for photographers with such affectation and delight that it was close to impossible to take your eyes off him. At the same time on the video screen another gentleman was walking on a runway wearing a white shirt, a tie, a very business-like jacket and a pair of scarlet jackboots on high heels. One wrong step, and he loses his balance, and falls down in a most disgraceful and hilarious way. Wiping tears of laughter you notice a couple of extremely lovely sweethearts making out just by you side and you have five seconds to decide whether to watch them, to leave them in peace or to join them. You are at La Troya, buddy. Marc Vedo started at 1am and Boy George took the reigns at around 2.30am. They played emotional house with plenty of recognizable vocals – in fact, it’s enough to drop instead of the full track just one phrase ‘sweet dreams are made of this’ or ‘Tell me why?’ to make this crowd go crazy. The duo delivers an impressive performance, giving the La Troya crowd something a little different than what they are used to. Both DJs were technically gifted and more than able to get the huge, partisan crowd on their side, with vocal support coming for them throughout their subsequent sets. After 4am the residents started to play it much more pumping and persuasive, driving the night to the acoustic and emotional climax. This is the party that makes every guest feel special, beautiful and attractive. If you ever suffer from low self-esteem, go to La Troya, take a shot, shake the hand (or a foot, why not) of a performer, make new friends and see how precious you are in fact. It’s not that concert-style type of event where all the heads are turned to the big name DJ, and once he leaves the party disintegrates – La Troya is about participating and getting involved, you’ll never be alone here and you’ll never be sad. Every Wednesday Amnesia is on fire, and it’s the one and only place to cater for your most burning desires. share this tweet this
