There are some places that hold a special place in the hearts of the island community and Aubergine, the magical countryside restaurant just outside of Santa Gertrudis, is most certainly one of them. Tranquil, charming and boasting outstanding hospitality and food, it is the perfect place to drop in for a relaxed family lunch or a romantic dinner date – and anything in between. After a little winter hibernation, it has been announced that the beautiful eatery, which is part of the Atzaro Group portfolio, will kick off the 2018 season on Thursday, March 1st.

Over the cold and dark months, the traditional whitewashed building has served as a cosy bolthole for Ibiza residents where they could hunker down by the roaring fireplace and enjoy the hearty and wholesome food. But as the days start to get sunnier and the venue’s sprawling gardens begin to bloom, Aubergine is inviting guests to come and try the new additions to the mouth-watering menu and return to the romance of campo life.

The restaurant’s annual opening is always a welcome addition to the early season social calendar as it offers a great day of food and fun for the whole family. Guests can mingle in the gorgeous flowering gardens while little ones will be kept entertained with games and crafts in a dedicated children’s area. Naturally there will be a variety of delicious foods to try, with the menu carefully put together by the passionate kitchen team, which champions home-grown produce from Aubergine’s own fields. Last summer, the restaurant’s offering ranged from traditional Mediterranean seafood and meat recipes to exotic salads and healthy juices, as well as naughty indulgences in the dessert section.

Guests will be welcomed for lunch service from 12.00 on Thursday, March 1st, with both reservations and walk-in diners able to feast on the restaurant’s ‘farm to table’ creations. It would be advisable to call ahead to avoid disappointment, though. From then on, the restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Sunday between 12.00 and 18.00. Hot on the heels of the official reopening, on Saturday, March 3rd, Aubergine will host an exhibition by local artist Hjordis Fogelberg, a talented illustrator and author of Balearic travel guide My Ibiza & Formentera. An authentic island gathering, there will be live music from Cajas Viejas and, of course, great food from 17.00 onwards. We’re so glad to have you back, Aubergine!
