Snatch Records Santos Coast Club Takeover

It’s been a great start to the 2014 season for Santos Coast Club in Playa d’en Bossa, the chic new venue made a strong start in its debut year and has continued to build on that success with a few amazing early season parties. From the Lolita’s who took over the beachfront location before the summer kicked off to a memorable opening party that saw the elevated pool area packed with cool Ibiza clubbers. This afternoon we have heard of a Snatch! Records party taking place and have decided to drop in and check it out.

Snatch! Records is home to Riva Starr and has provided a vehicle for numerous discerning producers in recent times, offering the world’s finer dancefloors a barrage of ammunition in the fight to keep people dancing. It’s a scorcher as we get parked and walk through the mini market stalls that line the pedestrian area leading up to Santos. Every bar is full and playing the latest World Cup match live and there is a real carnival feel to the street. As we turn the corner and head towards the beach we can hear the beats from the Santos poolside booth, it’s funny how the minute you hear music the pace quickens! Inside the Cost Club a good crowd has already gathered, Riva Starr is on deck duty for the first of his two sets as Ibiza Sonica deliver yet another great outside broadcast. A little crowd has gathered in front of the booth and has started dancing.

The scenery from the pool deck of Santos is breathtaking, the elevated position directly on Bossa beach gives an unrestricted view out over the Mediterranean, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon party. We have enjoyed several great gatherings at Santos, the size makes it much more of a club environment, you won’t see much of the standing staring, filming-with-your-phone massive in here, this one is for the hip Ibiza crowd, some workers and a few tourists that appreciate great music. The beats have a distinctive groove to them as Riva Starr warms up the ever-increasing crowd around the unusually shaped pool. There is a special Snatch! shot on offer, made up of spirulina, menuka honey, mescal and absinthe, so healthy and dangerous in equal measure I guess. They are going down a storm, as is the label head honcho as the party kicks up a gear.

The free BBQ is a huge success with the arrival of the food sparking an Oliver Twist like reaction with some of the crowd as Riva Starr hands over control of the booth to Pirupa. The change of DJ doesn’t mean a huge change in musical direction as the bubbly, groovy house continues. The Reverse alien has landed on the island, all set for its launch in Privilege and clearly, with the advanced technology at its disposal, has heard about the cool gathering in Santos Coast Club and decided to pop down for a look. It can’t help itself as it jumps on to the dancefloor and gets involved with the groovers already occupying it. The sun has started to make its descent and much of the ferocious heat has gone out of it for the day, prompting more people to abandon the sun worshipping on the beach and get involved in the party. It’s another great collaboration for Santos Coast club, resulting in a great party, we called it at the beginning of the summer that we thought this would be one of the venues to watch and we have seen nothing here today to merit a change of mind. Riva Starr gets back behind the decks as we have to call it a day and head to another appointment, happy that we have witnessed yet another amazing Ibiza gathering.
