Ibiza 2017 saw Shipsomnia land on the shores of Ibiza; the floating music festival set sail from Barcelona on June 14 for a five-day adventure that included Ibiza and Sète before returning to Barcelona. Europe’s first music and art festival enjoyed a huge turn-out for ‘Tale Of The Kraken’, its second festival at sea and follow up to hugely successful debut ‘The Search For Lost Rhythms’, which took place in Asia previously. With a line-up that included Mark Knight, DJ Sneak, Todd Terry, Technasia, Pendulum (DJ Set) and LTJ Bukem, to name only it promised to see Shipsomnia live up to its mantle of ‘the mother of all floating festivals.’

People travel to the world’s clubbing capital in numerous forms, from all over the world. Sailing in luxury as some of the best artists on the planet deliver performances on stages across your boat is certainly a new one. More and more promoters are taking to the sea to offer clubbers a unique experience but few do so with the flair of the team behind Shipsomnia, who transform the luxury cruise liner through a series of spectacular stages that embrace the party theme and offer something that it part crew will never forget. With time to explore the island during the Ibiza stopover, Vedra was a popular destination, its magnetic pull proving too much for the global crowd that filled the ship. There was even time to drop into some of Ibiza’s iconic venues before returning to the ship for the opening of the main stage during the SunRISE Of The Kraken party.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Shipsomnia in Ibiza, however, as the party fanatics captured the attention of the authorities during the all-night party that saw revellers dancing until 8.30 am, much to the annoyance of residents in the exclusive marina area. There is talk of a fine for the pleasure but something tells me that the team is no too upset with its new found notoriety of being too much of a party for the party capital! The ship moved on, leaving the island in its wake as it took the party back out to sea. Shipsomnia will return for a new adventure in 2018, and while details have yet to be released, the pre-book tickets will go on sale on Sunday July 1 to the general public.
