Savannah Grooves Off Into The Sunset

Ibiza may be coming to the end of a season that has been busier – and seemingly longer – than ever, with record levels of visitors descending onto the island from April all the way through to October, but the DJs, promoters and team members who have spoilt us with amazing music and warm hospitality all summer are showing no signs of slowing down as the whirlwind off closings nears its inevitable finale. And on October 8th, Sunset Strip favourite Savannah treated us to a last hurrah that was fuelled by great beats, delicious cocktails and tasty food.

The sunset may have been somewhat affected by the recent autumn storms that have held Ibiza in their grip, but that didn’t stop the Savannah crew from pulling out all the stops to bow out of 2016 in style. Even a group of wild dolphins, which, with heartwarming synchronicity, had also made an appearance for the popular sunset venue’s opening fiesta, swum by the bar and restaurant as if to say goodbye, delighting those who spotted them and once again showing why exactly island life is so #magical.

Combining expansive sunset views across the vast bay of San Antonio with a great culinary offering perfect for fuelling up for the night ahead and a soundtrack that will get you in the mood to dance, for its closing party Savannah had curated a line-up that saw both its residents and island-favourite DJs take to the booth. Doctor Feelgood, Javi Barreda, Jason Bye, James Reid, Loeca and Juanito Chancias B2B EPI all turned out for the occasion, coming together to celebrate the Ibiza summer one more time.

Doctor Feelgood opened the evening with an ambient and laid-back sunset session that grooved along very nicely indeed on a deep house edge, giving guests that unbeatable Ibiza feeling even when the weather wasn’t quite living up to its full potential. He was followed by Javi Barreda, who turned the tempo up a notch with a selection of feel good tracks to help his audience warm up for the night ahead.

We couldn’t resist ordering a few of Savannah’s tasty cocktails and moreish sharing plates, toasting the party with fruity Strawberry Daiquiris and tropical Pina Coladas. A plate of nachos topped with tomato salsa, guacamole and sour cream, and fried chicken strips in a crispy batter, served with sweet chili sauce and chips, indulged our naughty food cravings and set us up for the rest of the night.

Meanwhile, Jason Bye had taken over the booth, delivering an energetic house set that was transmitted live to the rest of the world via Ibiza Global Radio, and we bet many a listener was experiencing major FOMO. Further dinner entertainment was provided by a magician dressed like The Joker, who amazed onlookers with his tricks and only scared us a tiny bit – honest…

As the night progressed, James Reid was ready to take the party atmosphere to the next level with driving and groovy deep house set that made us eager to hit the dance floor, but not without a nostalgic last glance at the sea, thinking of all the memories made this summer. We know we will be back in 2017!
