Santos Coast Club Welcomes Mobilee

Ibiza 2014 has seen Santos Ibiza Coast club welcome some very cool labels and DJs to its intimate open-air poolside venue, resulting in some memorable parties. Monday July 14 saw Anja Schneider and her celebrated Mobilee label start its fortnightly residency overlooking the Playa d’en Bossa beach. Santos enjoys a spectacular view from its elevated poolside, located directly on the beach; it offers the perfect spot for a small get together. To celebrate the launch of the bi-weekly party, Anja Schneider was joined by Rodriguez Jr., Igor Vicente and special guest William Kouam Djoko. It was a tough Monday to launch with the Space 25th birthday finishing only a few hours before and Germany lifting the world cup in Brazil, the first European country to do so in South America!

It has reached that crazy part of the summer, where, for the next six to eight weeks, finding a minute in a day full of them is a tricky proposition but this was one gathering we had to make some time for, albeit not as much as we would have liked. Ibiza in the summer throws up all sorts of interesting days, one minute we were sitting on the cliff-top terrace of Cotton Beach, Cala Tarida, soaking in the peace and quiet and seemingly the next we had parked our car in the heart of Playa d’en Bossa and were making our way through the throngs of tourists to Santos Coast Club for the party. We arrived too late for the canapés and too early for the party to hit full swing but just in time to check out Dutch DJ/ producer William Kouam Djoko and we were thankful we had. His bubbly deep house and techno groove was inspired and, even though the party hadn’t really kicked off, people were dancing all around the pool area.

All of the DJs delivered a musical journey fitting with the party and the place, dropping nugget after nugget and willing our feet to move, not that they needed much persuasion, the atmosphere was amazing. A warm and genuine crowd had gathered, filling up nicely, given the other distractions in the immediate vicinity, and really creating a buzz on the floor in front of the branded booth. We got talking to a few people when we arrived and they were particularly excited about the possibility of being this close to Rodriguez Jr. when he played live, something we had never witnessed before. With multiple decks, Maschine and a keyboard set up, he didn’t disappoint. This is a party for those that love their house and techno, who want to be educated and listen to music they don’t know and who want to do it with like-minded people that have ear-to-ear grins. Great people, great music in a great location.

By the time Anja Schneider took to the decks the light was fading, day turned into night and the vibe in front of the booth intensified. There ere several hands in the air moments through the set and the quality of beats maintained throughout. Unfortunately for us, we had overstayed our allotted time and were now playing catch up for the rest of the night but it was worth it. In the short time we had dropped into Santos, we had made some new friends, we had heard some amazing music, played by some talented DJs and we had found another one of those parties that give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside! Mobilee returns to Santos Coast Club on Monday July 28, make sure you’re there!
