Every DJ who tried to establish a name for himself in Ibiza knows how difficult it is. Very few cope with this noble task – one of them who has is Andrea Oliva, who has been playing this summer at some very meaningful events around the island, including ANTS in Ushuaïa and Carl Cox Revolution in Space. But it’s at his own OUTSIDE party at BEACHOUSE where this amazing artist is at his best, showcasing all of his skills and repertoire. The event took place every Wednesday of July and August, and now it’s over – here is the story of the last chapter…

It was getting dark, and we were heading to the hottest beach venue of Playa d’en Bossa. Actually, when you need to go to BEACHOUSE, you don’t have to ask for directions – just follow the crowd, and they will guide you to the venue. The music was fine-tuned so that it was hardly hearable from the distance, but pretty much recognisable on the spot. As you might guess, every single DJ has his or her notion of a beach party: some like it loud, fast and intense, others let things grow organically and in a more relaxed way. At Outside we were able to get the best of both worlds: the music was fast enough and full of drive to get a proper dance, but at the same time that was not that 6am die-hard techno one would get in a nightclub. Andrea Oliva was joined by his ANTS cohorts Los Suruba for a fitting end to a special residency.

The public at the party was just as amazing as you could imagine. A proper balance of club-heads, stylish youngsters and sophisticated connoisseurs were all dancing together, both inside and outside the club. As always, inside it was boiling hot: all the cutting-edge crowd of Ibiza was there, sweating it out and leaving it all on the dancefloor. OUTSIDE there was quite a gathering as well: a crowd, longing to let their hair down to the sound of the most forward-thinking music. Later Andrea confessed on Facebook that the closing of OUTSIDE completely ‘killed’ him. Killed could have been not quite the proper word – there were survivors…few.

And then, when it’s over, Playa d’en Bossa gives you a completely different notion of an afterparty – the one that starts not after sunrise, but at midnight. Hundreds of people are walking through the streets, some trying to catch a cab, others heading from a beach club to a nightclub, the rest just walking to their hotel or their favourite bar. That is quite an event in itself: the vibes you get from a happy, tipsy crowd greeting every passing car and singing along to every song it hears from a taxi is second to none. But that’s a completely different story that you will experience yourself for sure… Thank you so much, Andrea and BEACHOUSE! See you next summer, where it will be just as amazing as this one!
