Lunch In Style At Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club Posted on June 9, 2017 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: La Skimal share this tweet this With a fresh breeze in your hair and views on the azure waters merging with the White Isle’s bright blue skies in the horizon, Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club offers one of the most spectacular spots to enjoy a seaside meal. Famed for its stylish surroundings, great music offering and attention to detail, as well as the hip crowd that frequents it, the original Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel has become one of the island’s most famous addresses in a relatively short amount of time – and the same recipe for success has been applied to its adjacent beach club concept. We went for a spectacular sun-drenched lunch with friends this week and were wowed by the heady combination of delicious cocktails, mouth-watering food and a vibrant atmosphere. Walking up to the stylish venue, we were dazzled by the bright orange and white parasols that cheerfully greeted us, and marvelled at the oversized animals painted in all colours of the rainbow that are dotted around the dining space. Finding a little shade underneath the flower-covered roof, our table spoilt us with premium views on the crystal clear waters of Playa d’en Bossa. Maitre ‘d Borja and his attentive team made us feel right at home from the second we sat down, rushing over with a selection of cocktails to welcome us. We toasted with a refreshing frozen kiwi and strawberry daiquiri, which wowed us with its natural flavours, and the utterly addictive Dracula, a creamy concoction combining berry aromas with vanilla and a cheeky vodka injection, which tasted more like ice cream than an alcoholic beverage. Perusing the daily specials board, which boasts fresh delicatessen from the sea as well as sushi, we were treated to an amuse bouche of a light and milky garlic and almond soup that was flavoursome but not overpowering and had a nice nutty bite to it. It was accompanied by a salsa of crunchy vegetables topped with a zesty and slightly spicy kimchi dressing. For starters, we shared a delightful salmon tartar served on a bed of creamy guacamole and with a sprinkling of fish eggs that burst in the mouth with an explosion of delicate sea flavours. We also tucked into tender curried chicken skewers that were served on a bed of bulgur wheat that had been soaked in the chicken’s juices and was bursting with broccoli, onions, peppers and – an exotic surprise that perfectly complemented the flavours – kumquat fruit. One of Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club’s star dishes, the Galician octopus wowed the whole table with its dense but tender texture, and the smoky aroma of the soft potato mash it was served on. Another huge crowd pleasure, a giant bowl of mussels and clams served with king prawns and a spicy marinera sauce had us all swooning. The plate was absolutely jam-packed with seafood, looking fantastic and tasting even better, with juicy clams and vibrant mussels bursting with the flavour enhancing garlic and chilli sauce, which made our tongues tingle and brought the flavours of Asia to the plate. While we waited for our main curses, we couldn’t resist a little chair dance to the energetic and upbeat house music that floated through the air. We decided to try a jug of Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club’s signature sangria, which is made with the finest bubbly and packed with fruits, a divinely cooling beverage perfect for sharing with friends. Unable to resist the restaurant’s seafood offering, we chose a salmon fillet that was soft on the inside but wowed us with an amazingly crispy grilled outside and was served with fresh vegetables and a side of perfectly textured and buttery potatoes. One for the meat lovers, we also tucked into one of the best Angus steaks we have ever had the pleasure of trying, cooked to perfection and seasoned with heavenly herbs, it melted in the mouth and left us in gourmet heaven. An equally gorgeous lubina fillet with crunchy skin and delicate flesh came with a trendy purple potato mash and fragrant mushroom sauce, and a side of healthy vegetable noodles, wowing even those who are not usually fussed about white fish with its perfectly balanced flavour combination. Our final choice was another real showstopper, a tender yet aromatic shoulder of lamb that dissolved easily and was topped with a rich layer of thick gravy. Served with soft potato puree and a selection of root vegetables, it was a nourishing plate perfect for carnivores. It’s hard to believe that we still had room left for dessert after all of this, but, never knowingly resisting the offer of sweets, we opted to share a platter combining a selection of Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club’s most popular postres; fluffy cheesecake bites topped with a fruity layer, the Chocolate Passion sponge cake filled with luscious cocoa mousse and a zesty passion fruit gelée, and, the pièce de résistance, the venue’s signature confection: a huge ball with a decadent creamy chocolate filling on the inside, held together by chocolate-covered caramel brittle. It was indulgence on a platter, and the perfect way to end an outstanding meal. Eyeing up Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Club’s huge, soft daybeds, we strolled down to the beach to nap off at least some of the calories consumed in the sun… Information & Reservations t: +34 971 926 486 w: www.ushuaiabeachhotel.com share this tweet this
