Happy Anniversary Blue Marlin Ibiza

Among all the notorious events that the hottest month of August brings us, the birthday of Blue Marlin Ibiza is one of the most meaningful and emblematic celebrations. This summer marked the 11th anniversary for the legendary beach club of Cala Jondal, and the glorious activities were spread all over the weekend. On Friday, Playboy event took place with three ladies behind the decks (Eli Rojas, Anna Tur and Chelina Manuhutu), on Saturday the dream team took to the stage (Chus+ Ceballos, Dosem, Tube & Berge and Peyton), and on Sunday it was Patrick Topping, UNER and Uto Karem who headlined the remarkable day, branded by Kaluki, with Pete Zorba, Pirate Copy, Bruce Hill, Eli Rojas, Oscar Acagy, Sasa Mendone, Valentin Huedo and Vidal Rodriguez. We came to the last day of celebration to witness the highest level of festive frenzy, and, as you might guess, we were among the last to leave.

The previous day was cloudy – not what you would expect in Ibiza in peak season – but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of everyone that had turned out to celebrate the birthday. On Sunday, thankfully, the sky was clear, we arrived close to sunset to catch the best of both worlds – Blue Marlin Ibiza in daytime and nighttime. While struggling to find a parking slot for our car, we realised once again that with extremely popular venues of this level it’s always advisable to arrive as early as possible. Very few venues make it to 11 years, many expiring before that landmark but Blue Marlin Ibiza continues to go from strength to strength.

Showtime Sunday is an established gathering on Cala Jondal, cutting edge DJ line ups have taken the party to a completely different level but add the huge birthday celebration into the equation and the potential is endless. The birthday party went off as perfect as it could. The dancefloor was packed, the energy and excitement would have taken the roof off if it had one. All of the performers made a significant contribution but our favourite was UNER, the Spanish spinner who has captured the imagination of the island over the last few years. Further away from the action, towards the water, the vibe is more laid back, as people chill out, enjoy some bubbles and lose themselves in conversation. That’s the beauty of Blue Marlin Ibiza as an open-air party venue, the vibe on the floor is a match for many of the Ibiza club venues but there is the chance to relax and enjoy the stunning location.

After the massive anniversary celebration, life goes on at Blue Marlin Ibiza, there is still a good portion of the season to unfold and the events keep on coming on Cala Jondal – Claptone and Adana Twins on August 21, Magnum showcase with Josh Wink, Technasia and Ambivalent on August 22, Housekeeping with John Acquaviva on August 29, Showtime Sunday with Umek, Dosem and Uto Karem on August 30… No matter which day you choose, the big and beautiful beach club of Cala Jondal will have something on offer for you. Arrive with a smile on your face, in your best attire, and enjoy the best open-air beach club experience you can get in Ibiza.
