Guetta Goes BIG in Ushuaia

David Guetta returned to Ushuaia on Monday for the launch of his latest summer season in the outdoor arena, aptly named BIG. The party has been one of the most successful in recent years, with the French superstar DJ one of the biggest attractions on the clubbing capital. With special guests Robin Schulz, Feder and Kungs joining him overlooking Bossa beach, it promised to be an entertaining start to the 2016 season…

In keeping with the theme of this years event, the giant tap in the heart of the Ushuaia pool had water gushing from it and massive letters spelled out the party name in LED behind the decks. When we arrived in Bossa there was a stream of clubbers headed towards the Ushuaia entrance, clearly the appeal of the biggest name in global dance music hadn’t diminished any, if anything, with the recent release coinciding with the launch of the European football championships had underlined Guetta’s ability to straddle clubland and the world’s commercial charts.

When we arrived the party was already in full swing, Kungs and Feder had done a sterling job in setting the huge crowd up before handing over the booth to Robin Schulz. When it comes to crossover hits and remixes, Schulz very well be the next Guetta, his ability to capture a melody and translate it to the dancefloor is unquestionable. Schulz runs through a series of crowd friendly grooves that the outdoor arena in the palm of his hand. The sun has descended for the night and Ushuaia turns from a scorching outdoor festival arena to a club night under the stars.

By the time David Guetta took to the stage, the crowd was at full tilt. The headliner was met with a sea of glowing light sticks, as the crowd celebrated its first dalliance with the Frenchman this summer in Ushuaia. Guetta proceeded to work his way through a series of massive anthems, much to the delight of everyone. Giant blocks lit up behind the DJ, spelling BIG, with sex dancers stationed on each of them. At one point a performer was elevated above the crowd by a bunch of helium balloons, much to the delight of the capacity crowd. It was another high energy outing under the Bossa stars for David Guetta and one that promises to deliver on the theme of the party, if the opener is anything to go by, Ibiza 2016 is gong to be BIG!
