It’s possible that every person who lives in Ibiza has now become so spoilt that they’ll never actually be able to live anywhere else – assuming they’d want to, of course. Because you know, there are the beaches, and sometimes the sun shines, and in autumn you can swim in the sea. And, vitally, we’ve got more parties on our doorstep than the Queen has corgis. Even closing season lasts for over a month, and once that’s done the winter opening parties start sprouting up. And this is what I mean – there’s never a dull moment, you’re never short of something to do, and on a Sunday night you can stroll down to BEACHOUSE and see David Squillace spinning his finest at the venue’s closing party. Not normal that, is it?

So yes, last night islanders descended on BEACHOUSE in Playa d’en Bossa to help celebrate the end of its spectacular second season. This is a venue that throughout the entire course of summer provided some of the best beach parties on the island, playing host to Solomun, Guti, Andrea Oliva and a whole host of others on a weekly basis. And it’s this combined with its luxurious daytime vibes, standout Italian restaurant and feel-good ambience that makes it a locals’ favourite.

And last night they were out in force – an army of fans spent day and night shaking their stuff on the golden shores of Bossa with the help of some of the finest names in electronic music. The action kicked off early, with beats raining down as hard as the mid-afternoon sun and people making the most of the chilled-out soundtrack and laid-back ambience before things really got going. BEACHOUSE Sundays favourites Audiofly kept things ticking along, blasting out some deep, rumbling beats before taking things up a notch once darkness fell. And then it was the turn of DC-10 resident Davide Squillace to take the helm, which of course he did with precision style. Punters were besieged by bouncy, funk-laden techno, the kind of tunes that made it impossible to stand still in the sand. And with plays for a whole bevy of summer favourites, Squillace gave a masterclass in how to get a crowd cheering and grinning in equal measure. It’s undeniable that When BEACHOUSE is pumping there’s nowhere else on the island like it – having the sand beneath your feet and the stars twinkling above you is a pretty special experience.

And so it was that another island venue closed its doors for the final time this year, but having punctuated the season with a party to remember and a legend behind the decks. Whatever way you look at it, BEACHOUSE nailed 2015; and with a history of getting bigger and better each year, there must be magic afoot for next season.
