Back To Basics has never been a party that conformed to any kind of norm or accepted parameters, the Leeds based powerhouse has always danced to its own beat, offering its followers a principled, dedicated and passionate place to let loose, with some of the most exciting talents on the global scene, both new and established regularly occupying the booth. When Back To Basics decided to bring its community an orchestral interpretation of its sound, you knew that it was never going to be ordinary. Not only was it a huge succes and a return planned for July 27 2018 at the same venue but it has been recognised in the DJ mag Best Of British Awards, nominated for Best Instrumental Ensemble.

Friday July 28 saw it present the Symphonic Sound of Back To Basics in Leeds Millennium Square, complete with Opera North’s 50-piece orchestra, Leeds’ Community Choir and artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Adamski, Felix and the gorls from Basement Jaxx, MC MAD (Grove Armada), Saffron, A Man Called Adam and the legend that is Robert Owens. As well as being a huge success, the event captured the attention of DJ Mag, resulting in a nomination in the Best Instrumental Ensemble category in the Best Of British awards.

Dave Beer, the driving force behind the celebrated party is understandably proud of the achievement and the nomination. “It was no doubt the highlight of my career and as if this wasn’t enough, we have also been nominated for a DJ Mag Best Of British Award in the Best Instrumental Ensemble category, which in itself is a great achievement. We’re up against tough competition and are no doubt the underdogs in our category, so to clinch a win would be just phenomenal for myself and all who were involved. I know these things are generally a bit of a ball ache, but if you could take two minutes out to vote for us and help give us a chance it would mean the world…” 2018 will see The Symphonic Sound of Back To Basics return to Millennium Square in Leeds on July 27, with another all-star line-up joining Opera North’s 50-piece orchestra. For those that missed out last time, there’s another chance to experience a truly unique interpretation of the sounds that define a generation of clubbers.
