There are many things to be grateful for in life. I won’t detail every single one because I’d be here for years, and that would be a waste of the very thing I’m talking about, but if it came down to naming the biggies I’d probably mention the following: living in Ibiza – needs no explanation, access to amazing music – without having to get wet and muddy at Glastonbury (in your face, festival-goers), friends – to enjoy the two previous two points with, and sunshine, because we all need a daily dose of vitamin D. Imagine then, if you could combine all four of these things to create what sounds like the perfect world – imagine if a place existed where you had easy access to all of the above. Well hold fire, friends, because plenty of those places exist on this fair island and they’re all at our disposal this summer. And the place at the very top of that metaphorical pile is BEACHOUSE, the beachside venue that’s been setting Playa d’en Bossa ablaze since it opened last year.

BEACHOUSE is like a beacon in an already starlit world, it’s redefined what it means to be a successful beach club and in the process has become a destination of choice for every hot young high flier making a beeline for the island. That’s partly to do with its achingly cool crowd, it’s impressive Italian menu and its luxury daybeds, but most of all its to do with its impeccable music schedule. BEACHOUSE boasts the kind of line-ups that would make most club bookers go weak at the knees, and that’s how in the space of one summer it went from a potential place to drop by to being the only place to go before you head out for the night, whatever day of the week.

Now of course, if you live anywhere other than Ibiza going hard on a Wednesday night might not be top of your agenda, but in the land where days of the week don’t exist, Wednesdays are fair game, and that’s excellent news for all of us looking to get our midweek party on. Thus, we all rejoiced when we heard the news that on Wednesdays throughout June, Guti would be in charge of proceedings with his night People Like Us. With the help of fellow boundary-blurring DJs he took beach-loving clubbers on a journey through his eclectic musical taste, and played host to Audiofly, Mar-T, DJ Harvey, and in the final week, Balearic legend DJ Alfredo. The night also served well as the unofficial pre-party to Hyte, Amnesia’s freshest new techno draw.

And now that brief but glorious triumph has come to an end, island-favourite Andrea Oliva will be stepping into Guti’s shoes as BEACHOUSE’s main Wednesday night man. In collaboration with one other guest he’ll be bringing Outside to the shores of Playa d’en Bossa, where he’ll no doubt keep the crowds dancing until well after the sun has set with his unique amalgamation of house and tech tunes. Midweek doesn’t get much better than that.
