So, the summer season is all but over, the big clubs have packed their bags and left, DJs are already in another time zone and Ibiza is settling down into its winter mode, well almost. It’s Ibiza, there’s always going to be one last hurrah to be had and the essential team has spent the last 4 months bringing you the best of the parties around the island, they were never going to miss out on the last big one. Emma and Nic headed to Chiringuito for part one of the final final closing party, as the fat lady got ready to sing… Become a fan on FacebookBecome a fan of Essential Ibiza on Facebook for up to the minute Ibiza news, scoops, info and competitions. El Chiringuito is a relatively new player on the beach club scene in Ibiza. Founded in 2009 and situated just past the island’s famous salt flats, this recent addition to Playa D’es Cavellet is the first and last word on fine dining in not just that area, but quite possibly the whole of the island. So, perhaps, it is fitting that that they had the last word when it came to the closing party. After eighteen closing parties in the space of twelve days we started to wonder if our local Spar would be having a fiesta at the end of the season the way this tradition seemed to be going. But as much as we had started to grow weary of all the parties, this closing party would be different, the tourists had all gone home, the islanders were reclaiming their island and absolutely everyone we knew was going. This event was going to be a roadblock from the get go and that’s exactly what we came across as we drove down the track towards Es Cavallet. Abandoning the car early we walked the rest of the way and on arrival, it seemed at this point that the party was still pretty civilised. The restaurant was full, as usual, with diners sitting at the rustic wooden tables, families and couples packed the beach and everyone was enjoying the last sunset of El Chiringuito’s season in anticipation of the full lunar eclipse scheduled to happen later tonight. As the sun descended into the sea, the staff began to remove the chairs and tables as the diners finished meals and the children were taken home to bed in preparation for big night ahead. Once the bass came on, the beautiful people came out and the dancefloor started filling very quickly with the islands players, movers and shakers. Mr Doris took to the decks first playing a smooth, chilled set that went down very well with the party people and was perfect for that time of night. James Kameron had played the closing of El Chiringuito in 2012 and was such a hit with the crowd that they had him back again for another great set that had the dance floor rammed from the second he took to the decks. Next up was Andy Baxter and it was a mark of the sort of party that this was and also a beautiful glimpse into island life, the amount of support and love that was in the room tonight. Andy Baxter was smashing it as usual, but behind him he had Clara De Costa and Jason Bye laughing, giggling and dancing their socks off as their friend kept the party jumping. As Andy Cato took to the decks we had a bit of a sardine situation on the dancefloor as the crowd all got ready to shake it to Groove Armada. As one half of the duo responsible for some of the most memorable Ibiza anthems the anticipation was high for this performance. And Andy did not disappoint. We knocked back our chupitos and hit the dancefloor as Andy carried on from where Andy Baxter left off, building up a hypnotic house groove of that kind that’s made their Space Terrace sessions legendary. And to finish the night, a mix of Superstylin and Born Slippy followed by a re-edit of Let Me Be Your Fantasy. As a party girl who cut her teeth on nineties dance music this was heaven! El Chiringuito had such a special vibe, it was the end of season reunion for everyone on the island and we couldn’t walk more than a couple of feet without stopping and chatting to old friends, business partners and all of the people we have shared our lives with this summer. t’s all over for another year on Es Cavallet and we are already looking forward to 2014 and the reopening of El Chiringuito but for now, there is the final closing party final after party to head to, all roads lead to Boutique Hostal Salinas… Buy Ibiza Club TicketsBuy Ibiza Club Tickets from Essential Ibiza and enjoy great discounts and queue jump entry! share this tweet this
