One Last Sunset At Café Mambo Posted on October 16, 2017 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: La Skimal share this tweet this With the whirlwind of closing parties coming to a halt, we inevitably have to face the sad truth that summer is over. And nothing makes this fact more undeniable than the annual closing of Café Mambo, sunset spot extraordinaire and purveyor of some of the best pre-parties on the island. It was an emotional affair indeed as guests and crew alike waved goodbye to the sun one last time as it disappeared into the sea – but with Hot Since 82 billed to warm up revellers before his Labyrinth residency, there wasn’t much time to be sentimental, instead ending the season with one final fiesta. With the sun setting ever earlier in October, the sea-facing terrace was already busy when we arrived early in the evening, with guests using the opportunity to toast the spectacle with cocktails and fuelling up with a tasty dinner for the fun ahead. Danny O had the honour of playing the final sunset session of the 2017 season, treating us to an eclectic mix of chilled Balearic beats before dramatic opera strings announced the impending farewell of the fireball in the sky. And Ibiza treated us to a good one, with the clear sky turning from the golden haze of magic hour to a bright orange, and not a single cloud to block the view. Coming to the end of another incredible summer, Café Mambo’s team members were hugging each other and we must admit we felt a little emotional ourselves as the sun disappeared into the sea to a final round of applause. With no time to be wasted on mourning the end of summer, Café Mambo launched into party mode, doing what it does best: get its loyal fan base excited for the night ahead. Danny O switched gears, launching into a set of upbeat house classics that contained more anthems than you could shake a stick at. Guests and passers-by were loving the feel good vibes and the famous sunset strip filled up quickly as people got up from their tables to dance on the promenade or stopped in their tracks to join the fun. A crowd began to gather around Café Mambo when Hot Since 82 arrived in the booth, bringing with him a host of gorgeous dancers from his Labyrinth residency at Pacha Ibiza, ready to help fire on the guests. The charming British DJ made himself right at home, enjoy a little dance with Danny O before taking over the decks himself. Guests who had access to the venue’s VIP area once more got unrivalled access to one of the hottest international DJ talents of the moment, enjoying a drink and food just feet away from the master mixer. Hot Since 82 took the energy to another level with some seriously infectious house tracks on a funky edge, and, never able to resist a bouncy beat, we got up and joined the al fresco ‘dance floor’ keen revellers had created on the sidewalk, dancing out of the season in style… share this tweet this
