No Excuses For Staying In On Monday Posted on August 2, 2016 Words: Lena Kochetkova Images: Andrei Oprescu share this tweet this There are No Xcuses for staying at home on a Monday evening: the name of the new event at Privilege simply leaves you with no choices. This party series was conceived by EDX (real name Maurizio Colella) – a Switzerland-based artist who had a chance to play in front of a 60,000 crowd and has collaborated with the likes of Dubfire, Axwell, Benny Benassi, Armin van Buuren and Deadmau5. Taking place in Vista Club weekly, it is a treat for those who love sexy house music with vocals and overall good vibes. Being Swiss, EDX was celebrating the Swiss national day with his crew last Monday. He was in a very cheerful mood, dancing energetically behind the decks and taking inspiring selfies. Every time he turned his back to the crowd and lifted his phone to make a shot, the first rows of fans rushed closer to the stage, raising their hands and beaming with smiles, gladly supporting their idol and looking forward to see their faces on their pic when it goes online. Nora En Pure, Croatia Squad, Chemical Surf, Coxswain & Jane Fox were also on the bill that night, investing all their talent and inspiration in that sassy house affair. In the middle of the dancefloor, two podiums were installed for the gorgeous curvy ladies, dancing in stripper boots and lingerie. The night was sensual, and so was the music. The event was supported by Absolut vodka. Beautiful ladies in tight blue dresses and stilettoes were posing and dancing by the stands, looking a bit like air hostesses – but extremely stylish ones – ushering the punters into a big nightlife journey. Right on the dancefloor, close to the huge glass wall, there was a stall with big transparent bowls on it – and in these bowls there were branded neon glowing wristbands, available in different colours from pink to blue. Their shape was different from the typical narrow stretches that promoters usually put on your hand in Ibiza – they looked more like watches. And now imagine every single punter wearing such a glowing accessory (or maybe even two, one on each hand), dancing in the dark room. No light show needed – the guests themselves created the show with their movements, and that was fun! In the last few years, an attempt to launch a new party on Monday in Ibiza has been quite a challenge. The powerhouses of Cocoon and Circoloco have established themselves way too long, and it’s close to impossible to make their loyal fans change their beloved itinerary. Moreover, now that Flower Power in Pacha has moved to Mondays as well, one must be really daring to try to introduce a brand new project to the calendar. But fortune favours the brave: EDX managed to offer something fresh and different, something that Monday night really needed, something lighter and more easy-going than the massive techno marathons. The trickiest thing is that No Xcuses will have quite an early closing: their last installment will take place as early as August 29. Until that date, EDX will be playing weekly, supported by Nora En Pure and such guest artists as eSQUIRE, Daddy’s Groove, Antonio Giacca and Bolier. This is the party to be witnessed and experienced before the season is over. share this tweet this
