A taste of Paris fills the cherry world on Saturdays, and this past one showed once again why Pure Pacha – Paris by Night is one of the most popular parties on the island. Über-entertaining and spectacular, with 2Vilas, Erik Hagleton, Kenny Dope and Bob Sinclar on the decks, this fabulous party amazes on every level.

In the Pacha recreated Paris, the floor-to-ceiling Eiffel Tower and red neon ensigns of various areas of the French city welcomed guests in a land of Moulin Rouge and cabaret extravagance. Following 2Vilas, Erik Hagleton was already hard at it when we arrived. Cheering and leading the crowd on, he appeared just as excited as the swarms of people quickly filling the dancefloor. With hefty basslines, twisted horns, and screeching brakes the French DJ had all in absolute frenzy. Surrounding the floor, dancers in white corsets and fluffy Marie Antoinette open court skirts revealing white suspender stockings moved on sky-high white heels, with long pearl necklaces and white feathers on their ringlet hairdos. Dropping house remixes of ‘Push It’, ‘She Drives Me Crazy’ and other such all-time faves, Erik ended strong with his own ‘Pressure’ stretching out the stratospheric rise into a massive drop.

Taking over at 2:30, Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez put on a full display of his wide-ranging background. The Brooklyn-born ‘encyclopedia of beats’ delivered a refreshing mottled set exploring the confines of house music. Half of legendary duo Masters at Work, Kenny Dope displayed class act tunes from all over the musical spectrum. For those in the mood for something different, the Funky Room saw Angel Linde with dropping some groovy beats before handing over to 15-year resident DJ Graham Sahara. With its mirrors hanging from the ceiling and a huge disco ball, this room remains a favourite in its own right. On the terrace, a stunning pin-up body girl danced in a giant Pacha cocktail glass while downstairs the Global Room Cream Barber Shop saw Mucho Muchacho at it, for a total of four different clubbing experiences in one super-club. As Bob Sinclar extolled K-Dope’s wicked set in the main room with a clapping build-up, a throng of extra dancers took their places all around the DJ booth.

In a most theatrical display, Bob Sinclar took to the club full on. Dancers in tall hair pieces and burlesque tassel pasties danced around him, while countless more barely clad ones rotated on the stage above the booth, some in drag wearing long sequin dresses and evening gloves, other androgynous ones in sparkling jockstraps, all striking poses performing in ultra-glam fashion. With a hardcore remix of ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ sped up and distorted to circuit extremes, perfectly timed smoke blasts and confetti explosions accompanied classic crowd-pleasers the likes of ‘Everybody’s Free’. As the entire Pacha danced with the overflowing DJ booth, winged red devil feathered creatures got on stage and Bob asked the crowd ‘Can you feel it?’ interspersing myriad styles of house but always taking it back to that big room, joyful atmosphere, such as a sing-along ‘Firestone’, ‘Get Get Down’, ‘Far l’Amore’ and even ‘Horny’. Diving somewhat underground after 5am, Bob had a full house of enthralled revelers for the rest of the night.

House lovers unite. With four Pure Pacha – Paris by Night parties remaining, you still have a chance to enjoy one of the most entertaining big room house nights on the island. For an extraordinary night on every level, the Parisian cherry world remains the ultimate Saturday bash.
