El Portalon One Of ‘Most Beautiful Restaurants In The World’ Posted on January 24, 2018 Words: Olivia Ebeling Images: Tamara Sini share this tweet this Big congratulations to our friends at El Portalon, who have just won the impressive accolade of being named one of ‘the most beautiful restaurants in the world’ by discerning travel publication Conde Nast Traveller. In just one and half short seasons (the gourmet hotspot opened late in the summer of 2016), the Dalt Vila foodie destination has wowed both island residents and White Isle visitors from all over the world thanks to its cuisine take on local, organic food. A joint project between respected restaurateur Justin Mallet, who is also known for creating the much loved Babylon Beach in Santa Eulalia, and organic farmer and cookbook author Anne Sijmonsbergen, with chef extraordinaire Filippo Alberi at the helm the restaurant has made a splash on the island. Conde Nast traveller writes, ‘Head to the little hillside restaurant of El Portalon at sunset and it glows an extraordinary pink. Housed in a 600-year-old palazzo in Dalt Vila […], opt for a table on the vine-smothered terrace and order the Catalan fried courgette with honey from Sijmonsbergen’s farm or the squid stuffed with spinach and sobrasada. Conde Nast traveller, we salute your great taste and can’t wait to return to El Portalon for one of the best dining experiences on the island.
