Breakfast With A View At Blue Marlin Ibiza Marina Posted on June 5, 2017 Words: Rosie Wilson Images: La Skimal share this tweet this If you’re looking for an easy, breezy breakfast, there’s no better way to do it than with Blue Marlin Ibiza Marina’s fresh, light meals, simple aesthetics and harbourside air. Trust us. From the moment you step off the harbour and onto the polished wood floors of Blue Marlin Ibiza Marina’s harbourside restaurant, you’re instantly in a better mood. The vibe is chatty, informal and comfortable while simultaneously glossy and polished. It’s the sort of place that, even as your shoulders are slumping into relaxation when you take the first sip of morning coffee, you’re secretly still glad you did your hair. As you watch the world go by on Ibiza’s famous marina; the crystal clear waters adorned with fabulous superyachts and the rolling hills and mountains in the background, you feel an instant sense of calm. This is what island life is all about, after all. Once you’re settled in with a coffee (which is beautifully presented and excellent quality, by the way), why not order a fresh detox juice? We sampled the Green Detox (cucumber, celery, lime, apple and green probiotic) and the Berry Bliss (raspberry, goji berry, banana, rice milk and mint) as well as freshly squeezed orange juice. They were ice cold, super refreshing and the perfect thing to kick off our breakfast. They also came with a beautifully presented fruit plate which, far from the usual apple and banana, came laden with dragonfruit, lychee, passionfruit and mango. After our aperitif, we were offered a selection of the breakfasts, which I can attest were all delicious. From the light and fruity, like the acai bowl with homemade granola, banana sorbet and chopped blueberries, to the more traditional continental breakfast like the crispy multigrain toast with smoked ham and cheese and a salty tomato paste on the side, the dishes were varied with something to suit every taste and appetite – the only thing they all had in common was that they felt light, healthy and fresh. My personal favourite was the chia and passionfruit pudding, which was really filling, creamy and comforting without being too much even in the blazing sun – the sharpness of the passionfruit was a good contrast to the chia seeds. Another highlight was definitely the mini pancakes, which were impossibly light and fluffy and – much like everything else on the menu – didn’t leave you feeling unpleasantly full afterwards. They were served with a simple selection of jam, butter and honey, and they really didn’t need anything more than that. When we’d finished our selection of light bites we were impressed with the food, the drinks and the coffee, and were left with an overall feeling of content. Little did we know there was more to come – our host brought out one final dish, a twist on Eggs Royale. Although the classic is hard to beat in its own right, the perfectly poached eggs and fresh smoked salmon were served on the same fluffy pancakes we’d just sampled, but larger. As a finishing flourish, the chef came over and piped hollandaise from a canister onto the eggs, which made rich source lighter and more pleasant for a hot outdoor meal. After breakfast had wrapped up, we chose to sit, have another coffee and watch the world go by – a testament to a place that we’d already spent a couple of hours in by this point. Whether you need to freshen up, catch up with good friends over a leisurely breakfast or simply while the time away in utter peace, Blue Marlin Ibiza Marina is the perfect place to do it.
