Take Respite At Elements Ibiza Posted on June 30, 2017 Words: Rosie Wilson Images: Tamara Sini share this tweet this Elements Ibiza – an expansive beach club encompassing a restaurant, bar, boutique, masseuse and pizzeria – isn’t far from the popular bay of San José, but feels a little more exclusive than just another beach bar. Decked out stylishly in white and pale wood, the establishment screams holiday vibes and chilled beach days, and is set right on the beach front. It’s well known for its fabulous food and drink, so we headed there at lunch time to try it for ourselves. We arrived to Elements at the tail end of a stormy few days in Ibiza; the wind still whipped round the tables and the sea was visibly choppy. But you never can escape the blazing sun for long on the White Isle, and as we sat down to lunch it was as scorching as ever. We drank chilled cañas of beer, which seemed only fitting for the laid back, beachy vibes that Elements exudes. There didn’t really seem to be a set demographic – children ran between the restaurant and the beach, playing, couples sat having intimate lunches in between a day on the beach and groups of friends laughed over cocktails. Chilled house music played softly in the background, and in between courses we wandered around the boutique, the grounds, and even to dip our toes in the ocean. You could very easily spend a whole day here. Our friendly and attentive hosts brought over the starters soon after ordering, and we were pretty happy with our selection. We’d opted for mussels in an Italian style tomato sauce, aubergine parmigiana, hummus and burrata with a rocket and tomato salad. The mussels were a real treat – super fresh and simple, salty and tasty: they were flavoursome but not so laden in sauce that they couldn’t be shucked straight from the shell. The aubergine tasted almost like a lasagne and was topped with chopped nuts – a really satisfying way to eat something quite healthy and light, and perfect for the time of day. The generous serving of burrata was impossibly creamy and served on a bed of fresh, vine tomatoes – but the standout dish was, surprisingly, the hummus, which was rich and almost yellow in colour, scattered generously with pomegranate seeds and served with a generous portion of crusty bread. The starters were all simultaneously rich and light – full of flavour but perfect for a hot day. As we shared them around, we agreed that the down to earth food at Elements, combined with the chilled atmosphere, rendered it one of the nicest beach clubs on the island. In between courses, we were brought a selection of fresh juices and vibrant, fruity cocktails. As well as a classic frozen strawberry daiquiri, we tried a twist on the classic caipirinha with added passionfruit and a signature, ad libbed house cocktail, which was tall and fresh with notes of crisp, dry apple. For the non-drinkers or those looking to get their five-a-day, we tried a Purify juice (beetroot, cucumber, celery, cayenne) and a Restore (cucumber, apple, aloe vera, celery, chlorella), too. They were bright, fresh and packed with goodness, and as we looked around, they seemed very popular with a lot of people flitting back and forth between the beach and the bar. Mains next, and we tried three meaty dishes and two more delicate seafood numbers. The spatchcocked chicken was served simply on a board with potatoes and a pot of chilli oil, and was barbecued to absolute perfection. A fillet steak, cooked pink in the middle and topped with sea salt and peppercorns, was served with fried polenta, tomatoes on the vine and a big, fresh, Asian-inspired salad. Our final meaty main – we couldn’t resist – was the house burger, which was served with loads of fresh salad in a big glazed bun and homemade, thick cut chips. Although it’s not always the done thing to order a burger from a lengthy and exotic menu, we let our carnal instincts dictate – and we were glad we did, because it was phenomenal. From the sea, we had a tuna and tomato salad served with hummus – the thick chunks of tuna were served very rare but well-seared on the outside, and the salad was perfectly light and fresh. The final main we tried was the black squid-ink pasta laden with seafood and shrimp – it was a really interesting dish and something a little different to the usual frutti de mare pasta dishes served. Unsurprisingly, the desserts we tried were also delightful. We were full to bursting, so we only ordered two for the table to share – the first was a berry cheesecake with a dark berry coulis which was simple, rich and delicious. The second, a chocolate fondant cake with a melt in the middle centre, was served with mango sorbet, white chocolate shards and caramelised nuts. The relatively simple dessert was deceptively multidimensional, with an armoury of different flavours and textures. For those with a sweet tooth, it’s an absolute must. Elements beach club, bar, restaurant, boutique and spa is an all-encompassing venue that really captures the essence of the White Isle. Pitch up your sun bed and spend a whole day back and forth enjoying the delicious food, refreshing drinks, breathtaking views and laid back ambience. Whether you’re here for a long weekend or all season, it’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy the island in all its glory. Booking & information: w: www.elements-ibiza.com share this tweet this
