The Ninth Hosts ïU Mag Celebration Posted on September 1, 2017 Words: Rosie Wilson Images: Andrei Oprescu share this tweet this To celebrate the launch of another edition of ïU Mag hot off the press, the movers and shakers of the White Isle gathered at The Ninth on the rooftop of the Hard Rock Hotel last night. With a stellar DJ lineup and plenty of pop up offerings, it was another successful night for the ïU Mag megabrand. Under the moody skies of Ibiza’s recent storm, the atmosphere at The Ninth last night was relaxed but nonetheless cosmopolitan. The island’s glam pack had collected in one place and – after paying their €5 entry donation, the proceeds of which go to APFEM, a foundation which helps local families struggling with mental illness – were enjoying some drinks and the panoramic views. As well as complementary fizz on the door, the door donation allows you one free drink – a very competitively priced drink in the middle of Bossa, and a charitable donation to feel good about to boot. Issues of the latest edition of ïU mag were dotted about, and people flicked through them as they chatted in groups. As well as a first look at the latest edition of the magazine and the chance to mingle, the party offers an enviable opportunity to get up and close to some of the island’s most loved DJs, in a more intimate setting than a superclub. Last night, the prestigious lineup consisted of sets from Melon Bomb, Graham Sahara, Secondcity, Kölsch b2b Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli. To honour the latest cover star, legendary World Champion Grand Prix motorcycle road racer Angel Nieto, who tragically passed away on the island earlier this month, his nephew Fonsi Nieto was the guest of honour, paying special homage to his uncle with an exclusive set. In addition to a stellar musical offering, there were plenty of little points of interest up on The Ninth – food and drink stalls from little independent retailers in Ibiza. The one that particularly caught the attention of the crowd was a rather unassuming crepe stall, which had generated queues that were 10 people deep at any given time (resulting in a rather flustered looking chef!) Taking the queues as a mark of quality, I couldn’t resist joining the queue – and the ham and cheese crepe I scarfed down when I finally reached the front was worth the wait. The latest edition of ïU mag is also the edition in which the Isle Awards feature – the publication’s pick of the best music, restaurants, wellness facilities, hotels and bars on the island. You’ll have to pick up a copy to see the results for yourself, but suffice to say, a lot of the up and coming newbies that have been attracting a buzz this season get a mention, as well as some well-established favourites. We not only urge you to pore over the latest edition of the magazine (it’s a good one), but to hit up the next launch party – they’re a real insight into chilled Ibiza. share this tweet this
