IMS Announces Final Speakers

With less than two weeks to go until the latest edition of the IMS, the final speakers have been announced, a special tribute to Frankie Knuckles will take place during the grand finale and Pretty Lights has created the IMS anthem 2014, remixed by MK. It’s all go as the countdown continues to the latest International Music Summit in Ibiza, taking place this year in the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza. Ministry Of Sound CEO Lohan Presencer will open the Summit with a state of the nation keynote address, marking the first time a representative from the global brand has spoken at the IMS. IMS partner Pete Tong will also interview Seymour Stein, the vice president of Warners, who will give an insight into his life and Boy George will contribute to the conference marking twenty years of Wall Of Sound, delving into the history of the legendary label.

Thursday May 22 will see a poignant tribute to Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles, honouring the huge contribution he made and his untimely passing with the addition of David Morales and Hector Romero, who will go back to back to back with Pete Tong. Judy Weinstein, previous IMS pioneer award winner and manager of Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Hector Romero, will also be in attendance. Rage On Gold has also been added to the finale line up, a project co-created by Australian DJ/ producer Kaz James, Nico Rensen and vocalist Paris, one of the hottest acts to emerge from this years IMS and as one commentator described them, “…if Azealia Banks, Giorgio Moroder and Iggy Pop had a baby, this would be their bastard child.”

Pretty Lights, aka Derek Vincent Smith rounds off a meteoric rise by creating the IMS anthem, which will be remixed in front of the delegation by MK. Pretty Lights is one of the hottest producers on the US scene, selling more hard tickets in the US than any other electronic artist and MK has returned to his position at the top table after a self imposed hiatus with stunning remixes for the likes of Disclosure and Storm Queen as well as a string of new releases himself. IMS has also announced that The Hepatitis C Trust will be returning as official charity partner for a sixth year. As part of their mission to raise money and awareness of Hepatitis C, the Trust will be auctioning off exclusive artwork from Ronnie Wood, Goldie and award-winning street photographer Dougie Wallace. IMS is all set for the latest Summit, the theme of which is ‘Filtering The Future’, in a world of overload, how do things manage to cut through? May 21 until May 23 at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza sees the electronic dance industry gather on the clubbing capital for a few days of intense discussion and some great parties.
