An open air event in Ushuaïa Beach Hotel that boasts David Guetta at the helm could really only be called one thing – BIG! Quite possibly the world’s best known DJ, David Guetta has enjoyed monumental commercial success in virtually every country and, as he gets set to start his latest Monday residency in Playa d’en Bossa, he remains the focal point for big room dance music lovers. Monday June 12 saw the 2017 opener and it promised to be another large one.

It was no surprise that we found a capacity crowd inside the famous outdoor venue, surrounding the huge pool, all eyes on the elevated main stage. Deepend and Jonas Blue did a great job warming the crowd up as the atmosphere is almost at boiling point as Oliver Heldens takes control of the booth. Having largely initiated the future and tropical house sound through his relentless studio schedule, Oliver Heldens is a headliner in his own right and in any other company would probably be the main attraction. There’s no doubt he has a huge following amongst the packed poolside as he takes us on a bass throbbing journey through some delicious beats.

There is a real carnival feel to the opening party, the stage production is nothing short of spectacular, the huge screen behind the artists leaving everyone in no doubt as to who was controlling the music at any given time. The huge bunch of red balloons floating above the crowd add some colour to an otherwise darkened sky as David Guetta proceeds to give the BIG crowd what has waited patiently for all day. The tunes are accessible, one of the side effects of being one of the most popular recording artists on the planet, resulting in more than a few sing-a-long moments during the course of the set. For lovers of those hands-in-the-air moments, this is a party you have to check out.

It promises to be another record breaking year for the French superstar as he maintains his hold over Monday evening in Bossa, attracting a capacity crowd to the al fresco theatre on regular occasions. With a series of high profile artists set to join him in the spectacular booth, including Afrojack, Robin Schulz, Klingande and Sam Feldt, to name only a few. One thing is for sure on the evidence of the opening party, no matter who joins David Guetta on the BIG stage, they will be met by a sea of smiling faces and a wall of noise!
