The Butcher: Ibiza’s Home Of The Haute Burger

The humble burger has come a long way since its fast food beginnings and, nowadays, often features as a regular dish on many high-end menus. And since last summer, connoisseurs in Ibiza are lucky enough to have a whole restaurant dedicated to gourmet patties – and more – thanks to THE BUTCHER.  Dubbed the home of ‘haute fast food’ the trendy concept is housed in the luxurious Sir Joan hotel, an enviable location within walking distance of Ibiza Town’s harbour, the beautiful Marina Botafoch and two of the island’s superclubs, Pacha and HEART Ibiza.

Part of the renowned Entourage Group, which is responsible for fine dining establishments such as IZAKAYA Asian Kitchen & Bar, THE BUTCHER is already a well established dining destination in mainland Europe. After initially launching in Amsterdam in 2012, the brand branched out to Berlin before opening in Ibiza last year. And after a breakthrough first summer, its door are open once again for the 2018 season, ready to feed its avid diners from 12.00 noon until 7.00 in the morning, each and every day – super convenient for those late night hunger pangs!

Its chic branding and hip design sends the clear message that this is no ordinary burger joint. The outside terrace, shaded by greenery and palm trees, is the perfect spot for a relaxed meal with your nearest and dearest. Having recently sampled the menu, we are in no doubt that their wide selection of burgers and other hearty options will leave even the most refined diner with a satisfied smile. Using only the finest and freshest ingredients, expertly grilled, sliced, dressed with signature sauces and stacked in a homemade semi-brioche bun, the preparation is fast, but the food is gourmet level. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just for traditional burger lovers alone.  This is haute cuisine after all. We were lucky to sample one of their most popular burgers, THE DADDY: juicy Prime Aberdeen Angus Beef topped with aromatic melted Edam cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, BBQ sauce and grilled onion.  For those wanting something less traditional, try THE BABAGANOUSH, which introduces grilled aubergines and Eastern spices into the mix, or THE COWBOY if you are looking for a jalapeño kick.

Those looking for something lighter can head straight to THE UGLY WITH CHICKEN: grilled marinated chicken with lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapeño and sour cream in a tortilla wrap. Pescatarians will be delighted with the CODFATHER, which stars crispy beer battered cod with a signature tartare sauce and, last but by no means least, vegetarians can enjoy the THE VEGGIE DELIGHT, a spicy chickpea patty with plenty of added extras! An unmissable side, sweet potato fries – or traditional chips for purists – complete the feast.
