The BPM Festival 2015

Posted on January 2, 2015

For the dance music community around the world, there are certain events that bookmark the year, from the IMS and Space opening party indicating the start of the Ibiza season to the Amsterdam Dance Event signaling the start of winter and, of course, as we head into the start of 2015, The BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, from January 9 until 18. The ten day celebration of four-four dance music makes January a month to be looked forward to, when the global talent that drives the dance music scene forward ups sticks and heads for sunnier climes. In recent years it has become one of the most important annual gatherings and a popular destination for clubbers looking for something a little different from a holiday and a sunny start to their year.

The BPM festival delivers a ten day clubbing schedule that offers a stiff test for even the most hardcore dance music fan as the finest DJs, artists and labels come together in the stunning Mexican resort for a celebration fitting of the start of a new year. Many of you favourite Ibiza parties and DJs can be found at BPM, from Ants to All Gone Pete Tong to Toolroom to Circo Loco, Elrow and Solomun Plus One, to name only a few and Ibiza Sonica radio is also on hand to bring you the very best of the festival. The series of day and night time parties offers something for everyone and a chance to test your clubbing stamina, as there is not a single line up that doesn’t whet the musical appetite. The biggest challenge you will face is trying to decide which parties to head to.

Here are some of the highlights featuring your Ibiza favourites to help you make up your mind. Carl Cox and friends head to Mamita’s on January 9, where the popular spinner will be joined in the booth by Eats Everything, Yousef and Jon Rundell and we know from his frequent parties at Sands, Carl Cox loves a daytime bash! On the same day at Cannibal Royal, Guy Gerber presents his Rumors party, after a successful first season in Ibiza at BEACHOUSE. Joining Guy during the day will be Chaim live, Bill Patrick and Lauren Lane. At night, Maya Jane Coles and friends occupy Blue Parrot, where she will be joined by Dusky, Heidi, Jimmy Edgar and Kim Ann Foxman so plenty to get you started on day one.

There really is something for everyone, no matter how you take your four-four beats and too many to go through the daily schedule but parties definitely worth looking out for in our humble opinion are Ants, January 10 at Blue Parrot day club, where Andrea Oliva flies the flag for the popular Ushuaia Saturday party. Nic Fanciulli, an Ants favourite himself, hosts a Saved party on January 11, again at Blue Parrot day club, while DJ Sneak presents I’m A House Gangster at Mamita’s. Carl Cox and Intec Digital offer a cool night out on the 11th at Blue Parrot, with Joseph Capriati, Marco Bailey and Jon Rundell completing a meaty line up. For those that love the live element of the party, check out BPM Live on January 12 at Mamita’s where Deadbeat Martyn and Swayzak are amongst those performing. Circo Loco offers a day and night time experience, depending on your mood, January 12 at Blue Parrott sees The Martinez Brothers, Dyed Soundorom, Dan Ghenacia, Jackmaster, Shonky, Black Coffee and DJ Qu deliver the underground message through the night, while the daytime event can be found on January 16 at Mamita’s, where Seth Troxler, Davide Squillace Vs Matthias Tanzmann, Ellen Alien, Nastia, Andrew Grant and Subb-An are in charge of the musical journey.
